I live with a bunch of loud people and this little wonder does a great job at covering their noises while they learn to be good roommates. Since I never expect that to happen I can still rely on this product. It will not make you instantly asleep but it does a fantastic job of getting you to relax.Things to note: The product I received does not look anything like this so if you care about that then do more research. Mine has a clock on it which is so bright, even on sleep mode, that you can read by it (I am really not kidding, I have to cover it up with a dark cloth.) Seems counter-intuitive for a product designed to help you sleep. The clock & alarm are extremely difficult to set. The numbers go up very, very.....very slowly and never skip fast like other clocks do. In retrospect I should have just bought the sound machine and not also tried to get an alarm out of it as well, it is too much hassle. And, did I mention how bright it is?

So, I did a bunch of research on these things before I purchased this one. I wanted a clock on it with an alarm. This clock is re-dicu-lous! You must adjust the time minute by minute through each am minute to get to the pm minutes. That's not only annoying, but then if the power goes out you have to do it all over again. To think, I paid extra for a clock. It will stop working, freeze perhaps. There is a reset button in the battery department. You just push that and it works again. The company said that its static electricity. Come to find out, the only things that help this night worker sleep are white noise and rain. If that is what you have been able to sleep to on one of the cheaper machines, stick with that. Now I realize I should have done that.

Due to chronic pain I've had years of terrible insomnia. I also wake up in the middle of the night and then my brain starts churning, making a return to sleep impossible. This little machine is great not only to help with sleep at night, but for relaxation and anxiety reduction in the daytime as well.First the positives: the sound quality is pretty good, though there is a lack of "base" in the speaker. Overall I've found it more than adequate. It has a "sleep enhancement mode" (my favorite feature) where the sound gradually slows and quiets for the last ten minutes of play. It seems like a small thing but it makes all the difference in the world, as I was constantly jarred awake by other systems when they abruptly shut off. It's also nice that there aren't many buttons on the machine, so it's super easy to reach over with closed eyes and adjust the volume or change sounds.As for the sounds themselves, I was pleasantly surprised. It comes with half nature sounds and half sleep music. In the past I've always stuck to nature sounds and my favorite one here is called "energy chimes", which has crickets and wind chimes. I usually hate sleep music, but tried it anyway and found I really liked it on this system. This music was exceptionally relaxing and soothing, and it ebbs and flows at the *perfect* rate....I have not found that to be true of other sleep music. The little sound cards are easy to switch in and out, but they are proprietary, and I would have preferred a universal type of memory card so I could use my own sounds too.For the downsides: the time and alarm are extremely difficult to set because the buttons for those tasks are so small and hard to push. With severe arthritis in my hands it wasn't even possible to set them. It might have been better for them just to make this a sound machine and charge less, and forget the clock/alarm business altogether, because it's NOT this machine's forte. As a sleep therapy machine though, I love it.

when i first bought this it worked pretty good than it started to quit working and had to take out batteries and take a small paper clip and push in the reset button once or twice a week

Sound quality and time set features should be much better for a clock in this price range. Wanted to avoid waking up to a buzzer but these sounds are more annoying.

This is nice but I wish it wasn't such a pain to set the time or alarm. Also thought it had a dual alram. It looks great and is an awesome sound therapy machine.

I bought this for my son who is a full time college student and works 25-35 hours a week. Between classes and a demanding work schedule, he frequently has difficulty falling asleep. The Sound Therapy System has proven to be incredibly valuable and reliable in helping him to fall asleep and STAY asleep. Because each person is unique with different concentrations of chemicals in the brain, each person will respond to a different sound to allow relaxation and sleep. This Sound Therapy System is truly the best and the various sounds allow my son the ability to find the right sound that he needs on any given night. Its portable allowing him to take it anywhere he travels.

My most peaceful sleep is when I'm near the ocean, but I fear those times are rare. I waited far too long to buy this machine. With the pillow speakers (purchased separately) I'm asleep in no time at all, and I sleep through the night. I feel more rested when I wake up, and my husband says I'm less restless during the night.The variable timer feature is amazing. I usually set it for 60 minutes, but I probably should do it for 30. You can use the battery feature or plug it into the wall, whichever is handy, especially for travel. And it has an alarm! It has definitely changed my life, so much so I've purchased 3 more along with the pillow speakers to give each of my office staff for Christmas.
