Cool and Quiet
I bought this 8,000 BTU Frigidaire to replace an older model (same brand and BTU) for a medium-sized upstairs bedroom. This top floor room gets very hot in the summer and needs more cooling capacity than a typical room of the same size. The new Frigidaire has been given a good test in the last two weeks after I installed it as our temperatures has been consistently in the upper 80’s and low 90’s. It has performed flawlessly. My old a/c would have been set to 68 degrees or lower at the highest fan setting and would have been barely adequate for these hot days. And it would have been loud. (After a number of years of use, the compressor started making a lot of noise and there was an annoying clanging sound as well.) This new version has been keeping the room cool at a 70 degree setting (72 at night) on mostly the lowest fan speed, which is SO much quieter than the old one even when it was new. The highest fan setting is likewise much quieter than I was expecting and efficiency has been dramatically enhanced. By the way, it is a pretty quiet a/c, but it is STILL an a/c. You will still hear it but I’d say the sound level is more on par with a relatively quiet 5,000 BTU a/c.My only complaint is the weirdly configured remote. The temperature controls and fan settings are hard to discern by feel (especially in the dark at night) and there are more controls on the remote (for a variety of functions that many of us will never use) that over-complicate it. There is also a slight delay between hitting a button and having the a/c respond so that it’s easy to accidentally toggle through the settings too quickly and ending up with a setting you don’t want, as I did a few times at first. This is why patience is a virtue. However, the remote aside, I definitely recommend this air conditioner.

Does a great job cooling my 2 car garage.
My shop is in my garage and up til now I have been using a 10k btu portable AC to try to keep it cool. The problem with portable units is that they suck air from the inside, blow it past the condenser coil, and exhaust that hot air outside. Where is this air coming from that it is sucking up from inside? It is coming from outside through every air gap around doors and windows, down your chimney, through your bathroom vents (hot attic air)...you get the picture. A window unit does not do this. The condenser coil is cooled by air from outside and exhausts the hot air outside. So right out of the gate I knew I'd reap improvements with this unit, even though it is only 8k btu. It is quieter than the portable too. This unit has an eco mode that shuts the entire unit off when the temperature is stable at your chosen thermostat setting. It also has a auto fan function that changes fan speed based on cooling needs. Another good feature is the sleep mode. press sleep and it raises your thermostat over the course of an hour by 4 degrees but switches back to your original setting after 7 hours more pass. These features combined keep my 2 car garage cool and moisture free all day in South Georgia where it is hot and humid and the thing does not run as much as my portable had to run.

Decent window AC unit - nothing special
It indicated that the 8,000 BTU model was good for cooling a room up to 350 sq. ft. But it still only barely adequately cools my room of just under 200 sq. ft.The fan also seems to change modes pretty randomly, which can be distracting. But everything seems to work as designed, and it was easy enough to install. It also comes back to its previous state when it loses and re-gains power, which is very important to my situation. It also came with the accordion slides at the sides, which was nice (some models require you to purchase that separately).

Great Purchase
We wanted something that could be easilly installed and removed, but not lose the BTUs of the bigger unit. I will never buy another LG brand, I'm sticking with Frigidaire! This little compact unit is a powerhouse. It's very quiet in comparisson to my previous unit, it fits very well in our window. It was easily installed by myself and my 18-year-old son and I suspect the de-intallation will be just as easy. I love that the unit came with the foam strips for the window protection, and extra foam for gap seal. The unit is very modern and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly it brought the temperature down in the room. I would definitely reccommend.

Great Buy
I buy AC units in the winter time; the best deals are available. When summer hits, the deals are gone. This was listed as a repackaged, slightly damaged unit; all handled by Amazon. The unit arrived packaged well and with all of the accessories and pieces for completeness. Damage was minimal on lower left edge of the housing - does not affect function at all and cannot be seen when the unit is installed. For this 8000 btu unit I paid about the same as a mid-grade 5000 btu unit. $172.21 + tax. It has been installed for about 3 weeks, all functions have been tested, I am satisfied. I got the wintertime AC deal I was looking for, plus free shipping. Yep. ...Is now 4 yrs later. Just now replacing this unit. It served me well at a great price. Replacing it with another wintertime deal I got about 2 yrs ago...my spare. :)

Eco function a plus
Does a great job of cooling my upstairs bedroom. The central air has come on much less often after this window air unit arrived. The upstairs bedroom was hotter than downstairs, now it is cooler. The Eco function is nice and for running all day, but it also cools down quickly on the regular function when I just run it in the evening. Quiet enough for sleeping. The remote is very handy.

Great AC.
Great unit, my room is huge and cools fast. Controls are easy. And offers plenty of options to control fan speed and cooling. You can change the degrees from farenheit to celcius by pressing the temp up and down button at the same time. Unlike the other reviewer mentioned you need to read the manuals ..no you dont need to be a an older person or have to be fro. The states to understand. Great unit over all.

After doing a ton of research we are very happy with this unit. It cools the kitchen and livingroom in our apartment nicely. Especially like the econo feature for maxium efficiency.

Works well for the price and has eco setting which was not mentioned in the description.
Works well, my only complaint is the directional louvre can only be adjusted side to side but not up and down, not a big deal but if your window is up high you will not be able to adjust it to blow downward toward you.
