McFlurry
We have not been able to use this item. We assembled it based on the instructions but we were never able to make a McFlurry. The instructions did not fully show the assembly from start to finish. We could not make it work. I believe a part may be missing or the instructions are incomplete. I would not recommend this item for purchase.

Really dismaying waste of time
What else is there to say that all the other reviewers haven't already said? This toy is a huge disappointment on every level. It's expensive to get, and expensive to continue playing with. The packages produce such a small quantity of the treat that you need three packets of mix to make a whole McFlurry. That's $7.50 PER MCFLURRY, folks!!!! The one at my local McDonald's costs 89 cents!! Plus the cost of the toy itself, not to mention that you'll need to be cranking away for at least 15 minutes straight. As if this weren't bad enough, the "instructions" it comes with are laughable. I put instructions in quotations because it doesn't actually have assemly instructions, just vague pictures mostly just featuring hands obscuring the parts we were supposed to be seeing. No written instructions. No troubleshooting. Not even a list of parts. It took us nearly an hour to put it together. My son thought it was fun to produce any quantity of McFlurriness, but in the end, this was a cheap plastic toy with no purpose, no real end result and no small amount of frustration and annoyance in the interim. I agree with whoever said that in the long run an adult ice cream maker would be much more fun and productive.

Do not buy - Go to Mc Donald's Instead
My boys aged 6 and 7 received this toy as a Christmas present. It has been nothing but a nightmare. The crank handle that is a major component of making the Mc Flurry doesn't stay on. It rises up and then you need to reset it. The lid also tends to come off so while you're trying to hold the crank down, you need to use your other hand to hold the lid itself on. It is quite a pain. There is no way my kids can do it without an adult churning it for them. The strength it takes to hold the handle on is bad enough nevermind trying to hold the top on at the same time. Then to add insult to injury, the amount of Mc Flurry that gets dispensed is approx. 1/2 a cup. My kids were very upset that such a small amount of Mc Flurry was obtained while requiring such a large amount of work.I highly recommend that if your child wants a Mc Flurry, go to a nearby Mc Donald's and get one from the dollar menu.If it is the fun of making ice cream at home that you want to share with your child, do what I did and buy a non-expensive adult model. Mine is eletric and produces a delicious product. They are sturdier, easier, and in my opinion, safer than this toy.

Don't waste your money
Basically this toy is the same as buying a child's ice cream maker type toy only it is in the shape and comes out like a McFlurry. Other than the mix, the only things you need are half and half (1 cup per mix package), ice and table salt. The toys is not fun because my 6 or 8 year old could not turn the crank to mix it without help. There is a little arm that goes down into the ice/salt mixture and churns that and it is hard to turn it particularly at first. The size cup that is provided is about the size of a small or medium drink from McD's and one mix package filled this cup up about 1/3 of the way. It was also difficult for my 6/8 year olds to use the plunger to dispense the McFlurry.I suppose it could have a tiny bit of educational value if the parent explained the reason for the ice salt/mixture but other than that I don't really see any.The product itself is durable. It doesn't seem like anything would break and nothing did when we used it.My kids were disappointed and said that they would have had just as much fun with less aggravation had we just bought a 1/2 gallon of ice cream.

McFlurry Maker OK But Limited
My 14-year-old daughter is a McFlurry fanatic, so this was a gift we expected she would be thrilled to receive - and we were right. However, the plastic apparatus is fairly complex to put together and not very strong once you do. It has trouble moving the ice cubes since there is only a small plastic rudder to do so. The ice cream treat was good and my daughter and a friend had fun making it. They then had to disassemble the whole thing to clean it and reassemble it all in order to use it again. What's really frustrating is that this kit only makes two small cups of ice cream! (Then you have to order a separate refill kit.) In summary, it was entertaining for an evening and will now likely sit on a shelf while we simply drive to McDonald's.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!
This piece of junk is such a waste of time and money. It requires 3/4 cup HALF AND HALF and 3/4 cup salt everytime you want a giant 1/2 cup serving! You need to disassemble the entire 12 piece unit EVERY time you use it for cleaning. Afterward you need to reassemble to use it again and the whole routine over and over again. I am really glad that each serving is a child size but, why not make the cup MUCH smaller to make it look like they are getting a huge serving like in the picture!I just finished cleaning the thing and rushed over to the computer to try to save someone else the hassle and aggrevation.Buy your child $30 worth of McDonald's gift certificates and swing buy when you want a McFlurry. Trust me, it will be more often and a lot less time consuming!
