RealeatherC4182-02 Journal Leathercraft Kit, 4.5" x 6", Brown , 1-Kit

Nice kit. Came in dark brown leather, so didn't need to stain which was nice because it was a gift for someone who doesn't have any leather working stuff. But might disappointed someone if they wanted to do something colorful. This is not a real sturdy journal, but definitely a fun, easy, beginner gift for creative types who like drawing Journaling etc.

I ordered three one had a broken leather strap and one writing with sharpie on the inside cover :( I made do and got the gifts done but far from perfect

Meh. It is a little small, but that is listed in the description and i have no qualms with that. What I'm more turned off by is that the product is advertised as Natural leather that can be "Tooled and Dyed as Desired." When I received my product, all the pictures sold with it show natural veg-tanned leather, however its already been dyed a medium brown. Now if i want to stamp or dye it a different color I would have to first deglaze it. Too much hassle. If brown is the color your interested in, then this kit is for you, otherwise I'd say pass on this one

Great little kits. Can make as simple or ornate as you would like. Great gifts.

After attempting to make a leather journal from scratch (without the pre-punched holes etc.) I decided that the second time around I would try to find a kit that was easier to manage since I am very new to this kind of crafting. I purchased this kit to do as a termination activity for a teenager I was working with in therapy and I have to say, it was markedly easier than starting out the way I had the first time around. Many of the directions online are far too confusing and the directions that are sent in this package are perfect, simple, and easy to follow. It took us approximately and hour to put everything together and we were very pleased with the finished product. What I should specify is that the leather is darker than what is shown on the cover of the package, so if you are actually looking for something light, I am not sure if they are all dark or if the coloring varies with each purchase. Also, if you are into tooling, you would also have to purchase those things separately to make designs on the cover. Overall, I was very happy with the purchase and would likely buy again if I need a similar activity to do in the future.

Have used this journal kit before but with the veg tan leather kit and it was super easy to use and put together! I did upgrade the thread and used my own better quality thread! Bought this one so I could see how it looks with the oil tan
