Purchased to use on boat/RV paired with the ALFA R36A, set up was easy. Tested on my strong home Wi-Fi signal and attempted to stream live TV on my tablet. The picture and sound constantly froze for a second or two before continuing. I removed the ALFA devices and the Wi-Fi stream was perfect, no stuttering at all. Have not tried at marina yet but think result will be the same or possibly worse. Note, I tested using the 5dBi and then the 7dBi antennas.I set it up on my boat and used at the marina with ROKU, the set up works flawlessly. Streamed live TV, HBO, etc. no issues. Went out to top of enclosed flybridge and tablet had perfect signal, and this is all with only using the 5dBi antenna. Prior, without the ALFA devices, the ROKU would not work, was connected to WiFi but no internet connection, same with tablet, would connect and drop connection constantly. ALFA customer support is excellent. Very Happy, highly recommend!

So I initially gave this adapter a 1 star because I had trouble seeing it up, I also mentioned it was most likely due to user error, and it turns out I was right... you see, I was doing everything correctly, I followed instructions to the letter, the only thing is that whenever I was looking for the adapter on the wireless utility or on my wifi, I was looking for "802.11n" or "Alfa AWUSO36NH" or something along those lines... just a couple of days, after giving up on the Alfa, I decided to give it another go.. this time instead of looking fo 802.11n or alfa, I just connected to my wifi network, and what do you know, it freakin worked! also I used a mac and I'm fairly new to them.. i was so used to windows which are so easy to use.. when I had a windows and connected an adapter, I would have to look for the name of that adapter or 802.11n...and that's what kind of threw me off when trying to install this adapter on my MacBook Pro..Also, this supports monitor mode and packet injection.. it has great range and is really fast, a tad bit faster than the pau05.. i do wish the cable was shorter though.. Alfa is plug and Play on Kali Linux.

Works great!
For all the people who are wondering whether this adaptor is legit or not, I just finished installing the driver's for it (downloaded from site) and am now enjoying free wifi courtesies of at least 3 restaurants all within proximity to my residence. One is between 3-4 walls made of cinder block, the other two are about 1 football field length away and I am showing 4 bars to full service with all 3. I am using the directional antenna that is included extra with the order but both are perfect for what I need. I have a steady 24-70Mbps download speed and am running this adapter on Windows 10. So far so good. I had my antivirus (McAffee) indicate a virus found shortly after I installed the drivers which was weird af since this is my laptop for strictly school and I never go on anything but school related stuff with it...but it could have been something else since I also installed Wireshark at the same time as this devices software. I haven't had any more virus' pop up but! I'm gonna scoop malwarebytes up and see if I missed anything. Beyond that one awkward wtf!?moment I'm very satisfied with my purchase and definitely going to get the yagi and extended RSA cable to max this puppy out xDGood stuff!

Alfa had best price/performance by far of the 3 adapters and 1 range extender I tried.
I got this unit as well as the J-NET AC1200 Dual band USB 3.0 adapter and a mini-antenna/adapter that inserts directly in a USB port and was useless so I won't talk about it. This Alfa is USB 2.0 and single 2.4K band, which is what the router I connect to is operating on. It's behind 2 walls a window and a bunch of big oak trees, about 80-90' away in the main house. This unit is set up in an RV.. The wireless service is pretty lame. Inside, I get about 78-90 mbps.. Using the directional antenna pressed against the window of the RV, I went from 1-2mpbs and 1 or 2 of 5 bars with the internal card on my laptop to 58-72mpbs and 4-5 bars, which is good enough to stream vids without too many interruptions. Using the omnidirectional antenna, the signal drops to 3/5 bars and about 42 mpbs tops.Originally, I was going to also use a dual channel range extender, but I ended up returning it before I got received the J-NET unit. I tried that unit with it's original 2.4K antenna and with the directional Alfa antenna. Bottom line is that the Alpha worked better regardless of what antenna configuration I used or where I placed it.The Alfa is small and looks more fragile than it actually is, I think. The driver is on one of those useless mini-dvd's but, unlike the J-NET, there is a clear and easy link to download. I'm using Windows 7 pro, and I really didn't have to use the downloaded driver, but it installed and worked fine, so...The Alfa's got a fairly bright blue light that flashes all the time and could be annoying in a dark room to some, but that's about the only drawback and mine is behind blinds so it's mostly an non-issue. Oh, and the usb cable could be longer. If I move the unit 2' closer to me, the signal crashes pretty hard. I was hoping I'd be able to clip it directly to my laptop and give it 5 stars, but that doesn't work well either. That extra 6-7' between me and the window makes ALL the difference, evidently. But for the price, especially compared to the $98 range extender, which was a total flop, it meets my needs just fine for now.
