Carnaby Copper Red, #4RC, is such a rich, shiny, long-lasting, gray-hiding color, and my hair is no longer like straw!
This hair color, Vidal Sassoon, in #4RC Carnaby Copper Red, is the very best hair color I have ever used. I have tried Feria by LOreal, Superior Preference by LOreal, ColorSilk by Revlon, and many others I have forgotten about. They all left my hair very dry, like straw. I thought it was just a sign of aging, and graying. I was wrong. It was from dying my hair with those other brands. I am 46. My thick, fairly coarse hair is past my shoulders, is naturally a mousy brown that bleaches out in the summer, and I am getting grays. I started trying Vidal Sassoon about 5 months ago, and am amazed at the difference in the condition of my hair. I had to try 3 different colors by VS before I found one I loved, but I kept trying because of the great condition of my hair, the long lasting color, the shine, and the excellent gray coverage. I do think it is important to wash and dry your hair right before coloring. It seems like a waste of time, but believe me, the dye takes evenly if you do, and covers the grays evenly, too (do not use conditioner when you pre-wash your hair). The first time I tried this exact color, I applied this color all over right away, since the previous shade was different enough (#6, Light Brown), and worked it in really well. I rinsed it out after 33 minutes. Yes, afterward, you need to rinse your hair for 10 minutes, then condition with their conditioner, provided. Use an old towel to dry. Rinse the shower right away after you get out, too, to avoid temporarily staining the floor. Continue using an old towel for the next 2 washes. I have dark pillowcases, so I can’t attest to any problems there. I have really thick hair, 2 inches past my shoulders, and one box does it. Really. Just work it in all over, really well, then start the timer. Carnaby Copper Red # 4RC is so rich, shiny, and expensive looking, and lasts a long time. It came out pretty dark on me, and was a bit of a surprise at first, but I absolutely love it. I am settling into recoloring every 5 weeks, and mainly because I hate looking at gray roots that grow out really quickly on me. It is frustrating that the stores around me don’t carry this color, as I think it is so impressive. Thanks, Amazon, for carrying such a large selection of colors, and at a great price!

Very good color saturation and bright tones.
A bit redder/brighter than I expected-but overall GREAT red. Very good color saturation and bright tones. I'm a dark brunette and I would say my hair is a true red-not as dark as the package would indicate.

Color lasts longer on my towels than my hair
This color looks great on the box, but on hair? It's been inconsistent at best. OK the first time, brassy this time. There's a strong odor, and even tho I was careful it stained along the hairline. It stained my towels horribly, and color came off every time for several shampoos,, even tho I use a very gentle sulfate free shampoo. On my hair it faded quickly, but it's still there on my towels. Going to find another product.

Smells wonderful, kinda messy
I got this product thanks to Bzzagent, and vidal sassoon. 2 things I noticed right off the bat, was the consistency of the dye, and the smell. It doesn't smell awful, much like other hair dyes, but it has a very mild smell. I noticed that the consistency is too watery, and if you are dying your own hair, you need to be careful not to spill it on the floor. Also, if dying your hair yourself, use Vaseline, so it does not cover your forehead and ears!I found that it did not burn my scalp once it was on my head, and I wasn't literally itching to take it off like other dyes. Be aware, the dye is ORANGE, and goes into your hair as such. I don't think I would recommend it for blondes!I'd have to say, this is the only hair dye that actually took to my hair. The day after I dyed my hair, it felt a little greasy, but this went away after a single wash.Overall, I'd recommend this product for those looking to go brown, with hints of red, as well as those sensitive to regular dyes, and for those who have a hard time getting color to stick! I am now 8 days in, and the color is still there (with normal dyes, the color usually fades by now!)
