Outstanding read for all, not just for academics!
Outstanding! Excellent book of historical "reality" and factual pertinence to the Chicano experience! His work aids with those that would claim to be Spanish, as opposed to being a Mestizo, and a product of 500 years of European encroachment. The amalgamation dynamics associated with the collision of two worlds and how it's ever-changing facets impact individuals and group identity! Also, Vigil makes it readable without being too academic and dry to get through.

Good Info
I knew very little about Mexican immigrants, living far away from Mexico and the immigrant populations in this country. I volunteer with an ESL program for Mexicans at my church. I take care of the kids, while the adults are in class. Reading books like this has helped me understand the kids and their parents

FOR CHICANO CLASSES THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND
THERE IS NO OTHER BOOK AS MUCH RECOMMENDED BY ME AS THIS ONE. I TOOK CLASSES LAST YEAR FOR CHICANO STUDIES AND THIS BOOK REALLY KEPT ME ATTENTIVE AND INTERESTED IN THE STORIES IT TELLS. FROM THE AZTECS TO THE PACHUCOS WITH PICTURES IN IT. WOW.

Not a bad book at all
Aprender sobre la raza. Not a bad book at all. It's informal and tells history like a series of stories rather than some dull textbook.
