The History of Skagen Designs In 1987, Henrik and Charlotte Jorst came to the United States from their native Denmark to follow a dream: that of owning and running their own business. Skagen Designs was founded by these two natives of Copenhagen on the principle that beautifully designed, high-quality objects can be created at reasonable prices. The Skagen Collection of watches reflects the Jorsts' creative Danish spirit with clean, elegant designs, skillful craftsmanship and technical perfection. When you purchase a piece from the Skagen Collection, you become part of an international community of Skagen owners who believe in a philosophy of design and manufacturing excellence. Skagen Trend Spotting In the market place, time never stands still and so our innovation never sits idle. Our design team is on the pulse of current fashions, with regular visits to design centers of the world including Denmark, Switzerland,Italy, France, New York and Hong Kong. We are never content to follow established trends. We stay true to our classic design philosophy and interpret trends accordingly. We observe, listen and innovate - all to create lasting design pieces. The Result The production of such lasting design pieces often demands special processes and tooling. These are often a challenge to create; however, we are never satisfied with "close enough". We continually push and fine-tune designs to stay true to our standards. We know what we want and are not satisfied until the design, material and workmanship are all just right. The result of such hard work and dedication speak for themselves in the jaw dropping enthusiasm and excitement created whenever anyone views our product line. Maintaining Your Skagen WatchEnsure that the crown is returned to the normal operating position before the watch comes in contact with water.Do not take your watch into a Hot Tub or Sauna. Under normal conditions, the seals in your Skagen watch will deteriorate and may need to be replaced every 2-3 years. Have your Skagen watch serviced by an official service center. All Skagen watches operate with standard batteries. When necessary, any jeweler can replace them for you. Different models are water resistant to varying degrees. Please refer to the back of your watch for the water resistant rating. How To Set The Time And Date Pull the crown out to the middle position. Rotate the crown to set date Pull the crown out to fully extended position and rotate crown to set desired time. Push the crown back to its normal position. The date and time are now set. Cleaning Your Skagen Watch Skagen suggests the following solutions for cleaning metal and crystal surfaces:3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water.Do not use soap products. These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces. Soap will leave residue behind when dry. To clean the case and crystal: Moisten a soft cloth with one of the above solutions. Gently wipe the case and crystal clean. Be careful not to put too much stress on the crystal as you clean. *NEVER immerse or soak the case/crystal portion of the watch, regardless of water resistance rating. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.To clean the band or strap: Skagen soft mesh bands are easily adjustable. Simply insert a small screwdriver or similar tool into the clasp. Lift up the clasp without applying pressure to the thin pin across the clasp and move to desired position. Snap closed securely. Make sure the clasp is set in one of the indentations on the back of the band. Link bands are completely adjustable anywhere watches are serviced. Skagen suggests the following practices for cleaning metal, rubber and leather surfaces: Metal watchbands Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it into the soiled portion of the band. For more intricate mesh bands, you may want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to cover the case of the watch during this process so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you may want to bring it to a jeweler for a professional cleaning.Rubber watchstraps Simply wipe them down with a damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may dry or crack the plastic.Leather watchstraps: Top Grain Top grain leather can be characterized by its smooth, somewhat shiny appearance. To clean this type of leather, follow the same procedure as with the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, using water only. You may want to use leather conditioner or a small amount of hand lotion to keep the leather supple over time. Top grain leather may develop a milky "haze" if left alone for extended periods. This can simply be wiped away or removed with leather conditioner.Leather watchstraps: Nubuck This is essentially full grain leather with the top layer shaved off, leaving a flat, smooth finish. A product called a "nubuck eraser" can be found at better shoe repair shops. It will help to remove most light stains and debris from nubuck. Set off by a handsome rich leather band, the masculine design of a detailed multifunctional timepiece offers a sleek style to complement every look. BEHIND THE DESIGN: This classic everyday watch pairs perfectly with the quick pace of busy spring days.

Stylish and affordable; Excellent customer service
I have had the watch for about two weeks now and I am very happy with the purchase. The simple design with plenty of whitespace on the face is an elegant look that's good for both professional or casual wear.*Functionality*EDIT: The second hand is not moving. It ticks slightly, back and forth within 1 second. This happened a couple of times before it became the permanent behavior. It's pretty frustrating considering I just bought the watch and it's not like I got it wet or anything. From a quick Google, some people said that second hand issues can result from a failing battery if the watch has been in storage a while before being sold, but I'd be surprised if that's the case since the second hand is moving slightly back and forth.I took it to a local jeweler and replaced the battery but the issue persisted. He concluded that it was a factory defect: the glass was too close to the second hand. He confirmed this by using a device to push the glass further from the second hand, causing device to start working again. Ultimately, I took the watch to a Skagen store, and they replaced it immediately -- excellent customer service in my experience. It has been working fine for the past 9 months or so.*Size*I would say the size of the face is only very, very slightly larger than the image where the watch is worn by gray-man.*Fit*I have average sized wrists, and the watch fits very comfortably on my wrist without pinching or prodding me in any way.*Band*After two weeks the band has that good rugged look without looking worn out. Also, the bit where it straps in has two loops, which I find convenient for ensuring that the loop doesn't dangle.

DO NOT BUY
The media could not be loaded. The watch does not keep correct time. The first month after I bout it, I noticed that I had to correct the time every 2 weeks. Then I had to correct it every week. Now I have to correct it EVERY DAY.It is a handsome watch, but if it can't keep time then it is WORTHLESS.What a waste of $100!WATCH THE VIDEO I POSTEDDEFECTIVE WATCHDO NOT BUY

Slick watch
Really great watch. I have been wearing it now for around 2 months and enjoy the weight and feel of this watch. The looks are obviously subjective but I wanted a very refined slim look to my watch and this was perfect for it. One little quirk is that the watch has a loud tick. If this would annoy you then perhaps a different watch would suit you better. I have worn the watch in the shower several times because I forgot it was there so if there were any questions about its water resistance I put it to the test mildly. Overall, love this watch and I think you will too if you purchase it.

Good value
Nice looking and large face so pretty easy to read. Keeps good time and this is my third Skagen watch so they are all accurate. On the other hand there is a lot of white surface so harder to read at times. Good value all in all.

Nice looking watch but broke within a year. The windup pin fell out and is now totally useless.

looks and feels like a watch that costs much, much more
I have never owned a leather band watch before and was hesitant. I have waited about a year to write a review since buying this on Amazon. This watch is my daily watch for work and for evenings out. It's stylish, very light weight, and the band is extremely comfortable. It looks amazing and several friends have mistaken it for a much more expensive watch. This is a great value, would definitely buy again.

A very nice looking watch
A very nice looking watch. Having a very small bezel, the face of the watch appears quite large in relation to the band width and to the average wrist. It is difficult to see the time in many lighting situations because the hands and markings are very shiny and contrast little with the watch face. The hands of the watch are noticeably inset compared to the minute markings. My biggest complaint is that this is advertised as a thin watch (6.5 mm according to Skagen). Mine is 9.5 mm thick. It appears a bit thin because it is beveled from the face to the back, but it is not a thin watch.

I have to say that I love it. It's a classic looking watch
Initially, I thought the face was too large. I have a smaller wrist and was worried about the face size. However, after having worn the watch a few weeks, I have to say that I love it. It's a classic looking watch. It has a clean, uncluttered face, and goes well with everything. I am very happy with the purchase.

Swell lookin watch
Very happy with the watch. Always been a fan of Skagen watches. They appeal perfectly to my style of relatively minimalist, not too overstated, but has a sharp look. Also for the price I feel like I'm getting great value compared to other brands.

Was worried this was a knock-off but it is the real thing. Very happy with the item.

Does not keep time well. Replaced it with a new one and the same problem.
It goes off time about 15 minutes every day. And the longer I had it, the worse it got. The first one I bought had this problem, so I got a replacement watch and had the same problem with the second one. Absolutely gorgeous watch, so it was very sad to return it and get a refund.
