FolkArt Waterbase Varnish (8 Ounce), 792 Satin

I've been using this to varnish miniature furniture made of balsa and I'm happy with the results. It washed very easily from brushes. My only caveat is that even though the packaging says non-yellowing, the product will dry yellow if a little too much is used on white pieces. This can be resolved by using many very thin layers, though.

I use primed canvas to paint decorative place mats , once the artwork is done I use the varnish to protect the paint job and so the place mats can be sponged clean .

This varnish specifically says it doesn’t yellow, but that’s exactly what it does when it dries! I’m glad I had the presence of mind to test it on a scrap piece instead of using it on one of my sale-able crafts because I would have been angry had i don’t all that work only to have the varnish coat yellow on me… don’t know why but I cannot seem to find any acrylic paint varnish anymore to use for crafting… very disappointed

I've used this Waterbase Varnish on some Folk Art paintings and love it. It does give a nice sheen to a picture, but not overly glossy. I didn't want glossy so the satin finish is perfect. Also have used it on a "regular" acrylic type paint. Seems to work fine! I do recommend it, and it's less costly than finding similar at the art or hobby stores.

I bought this varnish to finish a wooden truck I painted for my grandson. I loved the finish, and it pulled out the colors of the wood.

I use them in making jewelry.

It works very well and gives a very nice shine

I've used this product on many surfaces, it does do a fairly good job, however, it is too expensive for an 8oz bottle.

This is terrible varnish. I followed instructions to use multiple coats, waiting well over 15 minutes until the first coat was dry to the touch, and as I was trying to add the second coat, it started peeling off parts of the first coat. It came off like one of those peel-off face masks or sunburned skin, lifting some of the paint underneath.It also applies more like quick-drying glue than a varnish, getting tacky quick and not spreading smoothly. And even though it gets tacky fast, it takes a long time to dry and doesn't go on clear. Almost ruined my painting, and as it is, you can see the borders of where the layers of varnish peeled off.It eventually dries clear, but it's not a nice smooth coat. I won't be buying this again.

It doesn't take that much time to dry, but i put only one coat. Like it for small diy project.
