Snark SN-8 Super Tight All Instrument Tuner

Bought a pack of two of these Snark SN-8 Super Tight tuners for my Ukuleles. I have multiple ukes and needed a simple tuner to clip on the headstock and pack in the case. This tuner does a great job of helping me find the sweet spot on each string. The display is bright and it just works. I like the included metronome too. But my favorite is the transpose tuning feature which can be adjusted to whatever fret I have my capo on. That is a very neat feature. The other great thing that makes this such a nice and easy tuner is that a simple click of the yellow button gets the unit on and the unit turns off too with a simple push. No having to hold any buttons or wait long for a display to warm up. It just works. I wouldn't hesitate to get more of these as needed. The clip works and for now, I have one on my Firefly soprano Banjolele and my KoAloha Concert uke. Very happy with them.

This is the best, most accurate, easiest tuner I have ever used. I own over a dozen instruments & have bought almost that many Snarks so they can "live" on the different headstocks. I own the 8, the 1, & a couple others I can't recall. They are AWESOME! They work on my acoustics, electrics, basses, banjo, mandolin, and even my lap steel (although I have to clip it on the volume knob) In almost 25 years of playing I have never found a better tuner. But, the ball & socket can break. I have had 2 break that way and yes, it is annoying. You may ask why is this still a 5 star review? Because a drop of superglue solves the issue. Sure, the 2 that broke don't swivel anymore, but so what? I simply angled the face in the appropriate direction before the glue set. Sure, Snark could build these things out of metal - and charge $40 each, or they could make them inexpensive, easy to repair, and super-easy to use. I kinda like the price I paid for mine. I can't see how people can pay $10-$15 for a tuner and be surprised that they can break. So, to the really angry guy that wrote how these things are now "worthless junk"... I'll pay you $2 each for your broken ones and be using them 5 minutes after I get them in the mail!!

This is a great, really helpful product that I would definitely recommend to anyone who plays an instrument. It's simple, easy to read, and pretty accurate as far as tuners go, so I'm really happy with it. It'll tell you when you're sharp, flat, or just right with different colors, so that's definitely a positive. Also, it can really be attached to a lot of different instruments or just to a music stand as you play, making it very convenient to use. I also love how the head can turn so you can put it at whatever angle you need it to. You just have to remember to turn it off after you're done using it or else the battery will die pretty quickly. Aside from that, the tuner is great for beginners and can really help with getting the right notes during tuning or practice!

I will keep my review short as there have been MANY factual and well written reviews for the various Snark tuners over the years. Quickly though, I will start by also agreeing that for the price, it is hard to beat. This is mostly why I have given it 4 stars and just bought a sixth one. It is accurate, reliable for tuning, and affordable. All that said, here is why I decided to write a review. I have owned about 5 of these Snarks and every single one has broken after about 3-4 months use. The unit itself is great. Here is the problem. Where the tuner attaches to the guitar and where the tuner attaches itself to it's own clip is where this little gem falls short. Sure, if you put it on a guitar and leave it there at home, it will likely last at least a year and maybe longer requiring a battery change one day if you are lucky. However, if you travel with it, take it on or off a few guitars a day, or frequently adjust it, it will likely eventually break. Either the "rubber feet" that come into contact with the head stock of the guitar will come off and get lost or the little ball joint that connects the tuner's head to the clip part will break. Best to get several of these at this great price and just keep one on each of your guitars. One for the electric, one for the acoustic, etc. This item does not travel well and is best used at home gently. Edited five years later in 2017: All of the Snarks I have purchased in the last two years have survived unbroken unlike the originals mentioned in this very old review from 2012. Perhaps QC or manufacturing has improved over the years. I highly recommend these little guys.

The best clamp-on tuner I've tried, out of about a dozen. I'm a serious amateur. I've tried others that flash bright lights and colors which are very annoying on stage, and ones that I had to hold the power button down for 5 seconds to turn off (which is a nuisance during a performance!) This reacts quickly, usually within a half-second of playing a note. The display is clear and easy to read without being distracting or annoying. It's very easy to use; all you need to know is what note you want to tune to. Might not be best for rank beginners who have no idea how their instrument is supposed to be tuned, but is fine for anyone else from beginner to pro. It's chromatic, so works with any instrument you can clamp it onto that uses modern Western tuning temperament. It turns on and off quickly with a single button press. It clamps firmly but does not damage the headstock, and easily adjusts to be clearly visible for a wide range of playing postures or instruments. The tuning accuracy is very good. I don't know of any electronic tuner that is more accurate. It's almost as good as my ears, and definitely good enough. I've used a number of other Snarks but I like this one best due to the fast response and the display that's easier to read while also being less distracting than the others. Any of the Snark tuners is a good bet but this is the best. I had one of these that got destroyed with everything else and I replaced it right away, with one for every guitar so it's always within reach.

Viens de le recevoir toujours aussi rapidement. Ma première impression est que cet accordeur semble robuste et precis. La pince doit s'adapter à la plupart des instruments et la rotule permet une lecture en tous sens. L'utilisation ne nécessité aucun mode d'emploi. Est réglé logiquement sur 440 Hz à l'allumage.

Ich bin total begeistert. Wie präziese doch die Sensorik heutzutage ist. Ein ganz besonderes Plus ist für mich das leuchtende Display und der Vibrationssensor. Denn damit kann man abends am Lagerfeuer die Gitarre stimmen und kann es sehen und es ist egal was für ein Pegel das Umfeld hat, denn es lässt sich nicht von Außengeräuschen beeinflussen ;-)

I ordered this unit after reading the reviews. Honestly, this is the most convenient and accurate tuner that I have used, including my stompbox tuner. It is visible in the dark and particularly helpful if you gigging. I play fingerstyle jazz and blues. I tuned a bunch of acoustic guitars, including my 12 string in one sitting on stage and it worked wonderfully. Just a note, treat this unit gently - I broke the ball joint socket on the head by trying to force it down. i fixed it with a bag tie and it works great. SHOUTOUT to the SELLER!!!! : The tuner was shipped from Japan and arrived in Toronto in like less than a week after placing the order - well before I expected it to arrive. The sellers were also amazing - they added a bit of a personal touch - they included a little origami stork and a lovely thank you note (which I am keeping in my guitar case) - this is the first time that I ever received something like that from a seller.
