Introduction to Rug Hooking: A Beginner's Guide to Tools, Techniques, and Materials

First, let me say that I very much liked the book and its content, so this review is in no way against the author, which is why I am leaving a 4-star review for the content. However, when I purchased the Kindle version I did not realize that I would not be able to print the patterns that are an integral part of the book, and one of the main reasons I purchased it. From what I could determine, there is no way to print the images from your e-reader, online kindle reader, etc. I did not realize this until after the 10-day return window had passed. Fortunately, I contacted Amazon Customer Service and they helped me with the return. The inabliity to print from a Kindle book would not normally be an issue, but with this specific type of book where the patterns are integral to the content, it was a deal breaker. Hopefully this will help someone else.

As a beginner, this book has been very instructive. The photos are helpful. I appreciate the included patterns which are well suited to rug hookers of all abilities.

I am new to rug hooking. I found this book to be excellent. It's very detailed with plenty of pictures. It builds on teacher you the terms with each chapter. I really enjoyed reading this book and will refer to this book again I'm sure. I recommend this to anyone new to this art form.

Kris Miller's book, Introduction to Rug Hooking: A Beginner's Guide, is clearly written. Her selection of words is masterfully executed. Any rug hooker whether a novice or long-time rug hooker can learn many things from this book. The step by step instructions are easy to follow with much detail and explanation. I enjoyed reading this wonderful book and keep going back to it; that is the true mark of a well-written book.

Wow!! Perfect for the beginner and if you have been hooking for years, this is the PERFECT reference guide!! It is the most comprehensive rug hooking book I have ever read! It will teach you absolutely everything you need to know and the directions are easy to understand. I love how it reminded me of things I had forgotten along the way. One of the best parts? It is so much fun to read!!

Very clear instructions written in a non- threatening and enthusiastic manner. Excellent projects which develop technique and are also lovely to look at - not your typical beginners’ projects.

It's a nice book, illustrations, instructions clear and good to follow. Materials, hook, notions needed were shown, and accessories one could get. I was wanting a book that showed how to do this skill with wool - knitting wool, but it was almost all for using fabric strips and felted fabric strips, however the principal of working could be followed, if one used wool. The finished hooked work samples were inspiring and showed what could be done. A nice book to have in one's library.
