NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Shine Killer Mattifying Primer, Vegan Face Primer

Excellent product at a reasonable price. I have very oily skin and primer is necessary to keep my makeup in tact and not melting within an hour of application, but finding a good primer that lasts and does not cost a fortune is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was not expecting to find it in an NYX product but was pleasantly surprised. First, I love it’s a gel. I’d been using smash box photo finish but found its creamy texture a little heavy . I also had to be careful not to apply too much or it seemed heavy. The NYX primer is so lightweight, spreads easy and a little goes a long way. It does not feel greasy or heavy and it has lasting power. I got through a good portion of the day without any excessive shine or oiliness. Of course with oily skin you can expect to need to blot at some point, but nothing excessive. I applied it after moisturizer before applying foundation. I set with light oil free powder and that’s it. Great results! I really love this product at such an affordable price and will definitely repurchase.

This is the 2nd time I've bought NYX Shine Killer primer. I bought once someplace else. I bought it a 2nd time with hopes it may work better if I apply more under my makeup. I have VERY oily skin and have yet to find a product that helps eliminate the shine coming through my makeup application. This does help, but I still have some oil coming through after a few hours. Maybe there's nothing out there that's truly for oily skin. The primer is a charcoal black color but it blends when rubbing it on. It's very lightweight and you don't even feel it on your face. (I prefer that in my primers). Although I think it's a bit costly for the size of the tube and the amount you get. I know NYX has a face glue primer. Not sure how well it works for oily skin but I may try it out too. Overall this is a good product and may work best for people with slightly oily skin.

Works well. Coverage last for hours

I purchased this product a 2nd time after great (anti-shine) results with the (black) charcoal infused gel in the 1st purchase. However the 2nd purchase although claimed to have the charcoal in it- was a clear gel that did not reduce my shining face at all thus only a 3 star rating because I got to very different gels & results under the same product name. It appears that if you get the clear gel there is no charcoal which worked well on my 1st purchase.

I have always suffered from extremely oily skin. It has been an ongoing problem and joke in my family for years! I've tried hundreds of products in my 55 years but stumbled upon this product in my local beauty supply store. I figured.....Hey. I have nothing to loose. OMG!! I used it one morning before my 12 hour nursing shift and forgot all about it until I went to blot my face and realized I didn't need to. I have been using Shine Killer ever since. Most days I wear this and nothing else and have a great skin day.

I have tried so many expensive products as a primer. Most of them fail, allowing makeup to highlight pores and fine wrinkles. This one does not disappoint. It goes on a startling shade of black, but after it is absorbed you cannot see it. It makes my skin feel healthy, it is not greasy or thick, it glides on, it magically blocks my pores and fine wrinkles. I ordered several of them because it seems every time I like a product it goes away, ROFL

I have very dehydrated oily skin. I thought this product would be perfect after all my moisturizing steps (which have always worked well if not great with other primers I've used), but this was awful. It goes on SUPER smooth. I was actually really surprised how smooth it went on & was excited. I looked up the directions & saw where it said to let it sit for a few minutes before applying your makeup. I waited 3 minutes.. still very oily & slippy (almost wet). Waited 5 minutes.. same thing. Waited another 10 & yup, you guess it.. the same. I gave up & applied my Dr. Jarts Cicapair treatment which is what I wear on days I'm not doing tinted moisturizer or foundation & it would NOT blend in. It took me 3 times as long to get it blended in than normal & it still didn't even really go into the skin. This product is not joking when it says it creates a barrier between your skin.. nothing gets through it.. even your makeup! After blending forever, I went & checked it in other lighting & it was even worse than I feared. The Dr. Jarts treatment (which is thick & green, but changes to your skin color as you apply it) was sliding off. When I lightly touched my face all the product came off. My face feels wet & is even oiler than it already is. It feels like I have a film on my face.
