Bought this in January , worked fine. But it's now May and dead.. it won't keep a charge.*UPDATE: JUNE - Pushing up 1 extra star for customer service- *----------------------------------SUMMARY---------------PROS:- Easy to install- Does keep a charge and lasted longer then OEM- Safety if Laptop overheated.- Great for if you are in a hurry and need a battery now!!CONS:- If you don't calibrate the battery correctly for the 3-5 days suggested the battery's life get shot insanely. (logical but my oem allowed me to have human error for 1 day and not punish me for it.)--------------------------------------------------------------The company contacted me after my review and apologized. Maybe its a bad battery. They were kind enough to send me a new one and it arrived yesterday. They also emailed me instructions. Though I was a bit irked. Since I understand what to do and how to calibrate a battery, maybe it can help those considering a battery.---------------------INSTRUCTIONS SENT TO ME:---------------------How to properly maintain the new laptop or tablet battery.1. When using the new battery for the first time, please discharge the battery to reach 10-15%, then fully charge the battery,the charging time should preferably exceed 12 hours.This process can be cycled 3 -5 times, which is beneficial to comprehensive to activate maximum capacity of lithium ions.2. When battery discharge, it is best no discharge to less than 10% or the computer power off, otherwise it may be easily damaged the new battery.3. If you have doubts about installing the battery, you can search for videos related to the laptop/tablet battery installation on YouTube, which will work for you.------------------------------------I find customer service pretty prompt though! Even if I didn't appreciate being told how to install this battery and calibrate in every response email. But I understand its important. If you do not follow this to a T, I'll assume that is how my battery only lasted 4 months instead of 1-2 years. In the end it is a good battery and I do work my machine hard because I'm a digital artist so I'm always on my laptop.Bare this in mind!(will update in 4 months if it dies or if it keeps going.)

10/10/20 Updated reviewSo giving them an additional star for sending me a free replacement battery that also did not work correctly for the same reason - excess glue on the connector. This is a manufacturing defect. Since i did not want to have the wretched laptop on my bench for another couple of weeks i broke out a razorblade and a set of clippers and was able to carefully trim back the glue enough so that I got it to work without additional user intervention. Will it hold? your guess is as good as mine but it worked for a couple of days so I guess it will be fine. Is this the level of confidence you should have in a new product? probably not but the other ones i got were worse (!) and at least this vendor gave a crap and responded so there is that. Yes, this is not a ringing endorsement but no it was not an unconditional success either. So they got an extra star but that is as far as I am willing to go with a part i had to fix myself.**original reiew**connectors for laptops are very small and small manufacturing defects can cause big problems. Connector for the battery slides into the jack on the motherboard of the laptop and is supposed to lay flush. The problem here was the hard plastic glue that was smeared over the bottom of the connector and the cables where the cables from the battery go into the connector. This hard glue caused me to be unable to seat the battery into the jack and so the battery would not connect correctly and would not lay flush. If i held it down it with my finger it would work fine but that is not gonna fly. Again, it was just some hardened glue but it was in exactly the wrong place.

Fits well, ifixit steps are way too many. I used a waxy string, basically heavy duty floss to get under the original battery to remove the glue. The spot for the screws on the replacement battery sat too high for the screws to catch. I had to pry to get the plastic pieces to sit higher and force the screw holes to sit lower. Screw drivers that were sent did not work for any screw that needs to be removed for the battery swap.

You'd think that I would have better luck with buying a battery with an 80% chance of getting a decent product. sadly I was within the rare 20% that leaves a 1 star review. When i first installed it it wouldn't even turn on, I assumed it didn't even have a charge so i thought that would be solved by plugging in the charger. The battery apparently had a 47% charge but I only could see that after I had turned the laptop on with the charger plugged in. Within having it plugged in for 30 mines it said it was still on 47% even though it was charging the whole time and if I unplugged it then the laptop itself would shut off. I don't know what I am doing wrong but even in the past when I bought a battery, it would either have a little bit of a charge left in it or at least take a charge. This is a first for me when dealing with a battery and i hope it is the last.

I bought this battery to replace a pillowing OEM battery and couldn't get a replacement from HP. I followed the instructions for calibration and for the first 3 months, this battery functioned nominally not as good as the original brand new battery but not horrible either (1.5 to 2 hours on a full charge). After that, it has been a downward spiral. At a little over 6 months after installation, this batter barely lasts 20min off the charger.

Just what I needed. Easy to replace original battery. Had I not chosen to try this battery the only other option was a new laptop. Best $67 I have spent. It has only been about a month since replacing the battery. The laptop continues to have a significantly warm bottom side. This has not resolved with the new battery.

Works great, exactly the same as the previous A1618 battery I had in my laptop (15" Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2015 2.2 GHz Core i7). Took about 30 mins to replace
