Excellent replacement for the remote used by Dish Network, an Echostar 5.0 IR TV1 118575
Even though this replacement is not the same exact product specification, it works beautifully. No problem getting it to work on basic functions on my Magnavox TV, but getting ALL the functions to work properly will take a few minutes. The old remote had many sticky keys and it was very difficult to get the Mute button to operate.Be sure to leave a note on your order to specify whether you want remote device 1 for IR or 2 for RF.Setup issues:You may need a helper and all the instructions you can get; I used some information gained from the internet to help with the total function TV control installation. You need to teach the new remote which TV you're wanting to control; I ended up getting the TV's Device Code from the TV itself!(from the internet instruction pages) ...Press the TV red button. Press the Pound (#) button twice. The mode button flashes the number for each of the three digits in the device code with a pause between each of the digits. My Device Code was 566. Then I put this into the setup instructions for Device Code, and magically the new Remote Control worked perfectly. This time my helper wrote the device code on the printed documentation, just in case I need it in the future. The original Dish authorized factory installer guy did NOT do this. The new remote has some buttons moved, and this causes me a great deal of frustration! (Ha!)BTW, I'm keeping my old worn out remote just in case it is needed in the future at Dish.

worked perfectly; no set up required for my system
I needed to replace a replacement remote (one I bought from Dish, on which the Select button had gotten almost impossible to use). I have a Dish HD dvr, of the sort which can record only 2 channels at a time (not the fancy new "jumpy" or whatever they're calling it). All I did to this was put in batteries and follow the extremely basic suggestions which were included in the package. (Put in batteries, push the SAT button, turn on the receiver and TV, press system info or - I did the following- Menu twice on the remote I was getting rid of, press Record on the new remote and look to see if the "remote address has changed" which, as it said TV one, and I was on TV one, I guess it hadn't). I'm pretty sure the remote was working properly as soon as it had batteries, and if you get one, you may want to see if that's true. Other nice things: the Dish remote wouldn't let me "page down" or "page up" in the guide screen, or let me fast forward any faster than 60X. The new remote works just as the original did- page up and down and FF up to 300X.

Dish Network 20.0 Remote
This remote does the job, however it is not up to the level of performance that the original remote that came with the Dish DVR. The responce time seems slightly delayed and I have to make more of an effort to point directly at the receiver. I have not tried the program feature so I can't comment on that. Overall the performance is adequate but I will most likely try a different model in the future.

Excellent replacement
This was an exact replacement for the control that stopped working. No setup problems. Works as well as the original. I expect it to last years. When you order, make sure you're ordering a controller with the number that matches yours. They are numbered either 1 or 2. The different controllers work through different signals. Make sure you're replacing a 1 with a 1 or 2 with a 2. I'll take better care of this one. The old controller started to fail because of abuse and sticky fingers. We'll take better care of the new one. I thought this was priced fairly. Delivery was prompt. I'm satisfied.

Broke after a month
The remote broke after a month of light use. It was bought for our guest bedroom and was not used that often. The volume turns up and the channels change on its own. The remote said it was new when i bought it but it looked used. There was sticky stuff all over it and scratches. If you do buy just make sure when you get it to check it out before the return policy is up. I now have to buy a whole new one. :(

Love having a duplicate remote!
I purchased this to use as a second remote for my VIP722K DVR, although you could also use it as a replacement remote. It is brand new and looks just like my existing remote. After a while the remotes just wear out. I guess you could say I watch a lot of TV and wear the buttons out. This unit did not come with batteries, but since I was replacing my old one, I used those batteries. To program as a duplicate remote:1. Turn your receiver and TV on, and press SYSTEM INFO on the front of the receiver.2. Confirm that you see the System Info screen.3. Note the remote address shown in the UHF remote address box. It will be a number from 1-16.4. Press and hold the SAT mode button on your new remote until all of the mode buttons light up.5. All four mode buttons should light up.6. Use the number pad on your remote to enter the remote address from Step 3.7. The SAT button should light up.8. Press the POUND (#) button.9. The SAT button should flash 3 times.10. Press the RECORD button.11. If the steps are successful, the number entered in Step 3 should display on the "System Info" screen.12. Select "Done" to close the "System Info" screenThe instructions that come with the remote tell you how to program as a replacement remote:1. Turn your receiver and TV on, and press SYSTEM INFO on the front of the receiver.2. Confirm that you see the System Info screen.3. Press RECORD on your remote. The receiver updates to match the remote’s address.4. Confirm that your remote operates your receiver by pressing remote buttons. If this is not working, go back to step 3.I used the instructions at the following Dish link to program the new remote to control the TV:http://www.mydish.com/support/program-to-tv-scan-non-basicHere are the Dish instructions for changing the remote address:http://www.mydish.com/support/change-remote-address
