LUCID Topper, Twin, Blue

2-Year UPDATE (6/2017):It's held up pretty well... It has stained from body sweat, which is a little gross, but whatever, I didn't get a protector so what do I expect? I had 2 surgeries this month, so I'm in bed A LOT now, and unfortunately this mattress topper is just not as comfortable any more. My back hurts, my hips hurt... and I'm now looking at upgrading to maybe the 3" (the 4" has questionable reviews about being too soft). I wish I could trade it in since it's within the warranty time period, but know that it likely won't qualify, which is a shame. Again, it's not a bad topper -- especially given the huge price cut it's gotten since I first bought it -- but it's just not the topper for me any more. Hopefully the 3" will be better.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I had the LUCID 2.5 inch gel infused memory foam topper for a twin bed, and LOVED it. Recently moved out of my studio apartment, so I was able to get my full sized bed back. While I was excited about getting my old bed back, I was sad to lose that memory foam topper. Decided this time to go with the 2 inch on from LUCID to save some money.Only took a few hours before it was basically to full size. I had no issues with the travel bag. The smell also went away super quick, I don't even remember noticing it that first night. I do prefer the 2.5 inch w/ bamboo cover to this 2 inch, BUT that said, the 2 inch is amazing. I sleep so much better than I did without it. The 2.5 inch was a bit firmer, but you still sank into it. This one I feel more like I nestle down into it. If I'm sleeping on my stomach, I don't really even need a pillow with it. I can't imagine sleeping without one of these gel infused memory foam toppers. Highly recommend getting one.Also, one note regarding the "cooling" affect or whatever. This mattress topper is not an ice pack. It's not going to lower the temperature of your bed. No mattress topper does that. What this does, however, is keeps your bed from increasing in heat. Memory foam toppers sometimes have an issue where they cause you to overheat in bed, these ones do not have that issue. That's what this whole cooling thing is about, keeping you from overheating.

You can feel safe buying this.I bought this as a treat to myself as I'm overweight, sleep hot and often wake up sweating. I'm currently sleeping on a VERY old mattress while transitioning to my new home.I tried my brother's gel topper a year ago, a different kind that was more like a literal layer of gel inside plastic under a layer of sheets, cushy & super cold/chilly. I slept on that pretty well for a week, even in winter, but it slid off the bed constantly/obnoxiously. I'm including this detail cuz it explains that I was expecting something similar with 'gel-infused' in the description.I have been sleeping decidedly better on this LUCID,I think of this topper as the mature version of my brother's gel mattress topper. I don't lay down and instantly feel the chill, but I've woken up more often lately-the following MORNING, not the middle of the night- not sweaty. I think the aeration subtly kept it cool enough to sleep more comfortably. OH and it does not shift. So I do recommend it as I am sleeping better even on a 30+ year old mattress. If you are morbidly obese or for whatever reason a VERY hot sleeper, and simply cannot stay cool even without sheets/blankets, I'd look for that pure gel thingy I mentioned before (sorry I don't know what it's called ) because that is instant gratification COLDD.But for slightly cooler cushioned sleeping, this is great for most people I think.*The reviews are right about the initial smell, kind of gross, permeated my sheets as I didn't air out first, not a big deal to me I'm not crazy anti "chemicals" or vegan or whatever.

Update 6yrs: I’m still using this topper. It has retained its shape well. I remember it being softer upon purchasing, but hey, maybe I’m just older and more sensitive. It has changed color even though I’ve always used it under my mattress cover, so I’m wondering if that’s just an oxidation thing?? For $100, it has lasted a good while. To my younger self and everyone else: it’s not an ice pack, it does not actively cool, it’s just a topper. If you already sleep hot, you’re still going to sleep hot. This just allows some heat to dissipate better than regular foam toppers.Original: This is a decent product. I got the package, opened it up,and let it ventilate for a few days. It needed it, and I wish I had the ability to ventilate outside because it made my room stink for days. I will say that it took my unsleepable military mattress and made it not only usable, but comfortable, so that was a huge pro. However, the reason it only got four stars, despite the fact that it turned a rock into a bed, is because it is HOT. I know that memory foam products retain heat, and it's something I guess I have to live with, but I had high hopes. It said it was specially made to ventilate heat, but if it's actually doing this, I'd hate to sleep on one that isn't designed to do so. I had my windows open in the dead of winter and still would burn up. However, it really is comfortable, so I guess I'll just be cranking up the AC when summer hits.

Arrived in time, decent packing, came in about 1/2ft size box in rolled condition, as others suggested, I left it to air for couple of days and it has no smell, nothing out of shape, it recovered its original intended shape in a day. So far it feels comfortable to use. Over all a good buy, would buy more in future.

I purchased my first topper for my furnished rental apartment because I made the mistake of purchasing a new 'firm' foam mattress that turned out to be way too firm. The LUCID topper worked like a charm! Because I stay in the apartment at times I had a chance to enjoy it for a week and liked it so much I purchased one for home. My one big complaint is the smell. I let it air out for longer than suggested and it still smelled. It took 2 weeks for it to dissipate. Otherwise it helps ease aches and pains and really does provide a good night's sleep. I am a restless sleeper but I no longer toss and turn as much and I even feel inclined to 'sleep in'!

We were debating getting a new mattress, as my husband has back pain and found himself feeling sore every morning. We decided trying a memory foam before investing in an expensive mattress, and we are glad we did! Since we got this gel memory foam, he wakes up pain free most mornings and it is so darn comfy! I would suggest letting it air out at least 48 hours before use (the longer the better). I only waited a day and the chemical smell lasted a while.. but other than that, we absolutely love it! Definitely worth the money.

Received package sealed airtight. Very comfortable and the reason I no longer suffer back pain in the mornings. Good value for money considering this is a 2" memory foam layer and that a locally available 1" foam of the same costs roughly Rs. 12k. Size fits perfectly on king size bed and no complaints whatsoever. A worthy long-term investment. 10/10

Fast shipping. Definitely has an aweful smell. I left it spread on the spare bed for 3 days and it still smelt bad.After 2 weeks of sleeping on it now, I still get the occasional whiff of bad smell.It’s comfortable and I fall asleep quicker but I’m not sure if it’s helping my lower back pain at this time. I’ve had lower back pain for years and we actually have a new mattress that didn’t seem to be making things better so I decided to try the gel memory foam. And still undecided as I have back pain still.
