I use it for cooking meat, what else. Happy with the purchase. You have to turn it off, does not appear to turn off automatically.I should remove a star as my wife dropped it and it fell apart completely, 2 very thin wires got yanked off in the process.Since I like the item, I spent time and soldered it back( had to improvise and added 2 stronger pins to the board then reattached the flimsy wires-easier than soldering directly back to board) . Back in business!In summary, works very well but a bit fragile, use with love!

I use these thermometers for doing air conditioning work on automobiles. They are accurate and sturdy enough for a wide variety of applications.

Good value for the money but if you're not careful you can pop the top off and pull the inside wires out. I knew about this risk but after buying a second one almost disconnected the wires again when pulling the plastic tab to get the battery working. The top popped open and nearly disconnected the wires, again. Be careful!

I bought this to replace a Pyrex instant read thermometer that wouldn't work anymore when a new battery was installed. Mind you, it was over 5 years old and dropped many times so it was time for a new unit. This Taylor instant read thermometer is easy to handle and seems to be accurate for what I want to use it for. I always check the temperature of my steaks on the grill to get the most accurate rating such as medium, rare, etc. This Taylor thermometer seems to be as accurate as my old one and is a little easier to handle when sticking it in a shirt pocket for transport out to the deck.

Easy to use! Makes guessing a think of the past!

Turned it on and it has power but says the temperature is too low to read which is impossible. Lid popped off and discovered one of the wires isn't fused! Nope won't ever work properly. Too high lemon rate on this thing. 0 stars.

I bought this to replace the Taylor thermometer that I bought more than 20 years ago. That went bad. I had bought one from Harbor freight but it lasted a year at best. I am confident the Taylor will last longer. It is working well. I use it for charging air conditioning in automobiles.

Love this little thermometer. It's accurate and easy to use and read. Love it so much, I bought two.
