Best Cycling Computer In Price Range? Read more below....
DON'T SKIP THIS REVIEW BECAUSE IT IS LONG!!! I will answer questions that the other reviewers did not answer. Also, at the end of this review, I have written simplified instructions that are much easier to use than the complicated flow chart manual that the computer comes with. Read on!QUICK REVIEW: The Cateye Micro Wireless is an excellent wireless bike computer because of its high value price, features, and reliability. I bought this computer for a new bike, but I am still using the excellent and reliable Cateye Strada Wireless on my mountain bike. The Strada has survived extremely technical and jarring terrain, heat, cold, and torrential downpours of rain. I haven't been able to extensively test the reliability of the Micro Wireless yet, but I'm sure based on the Strada and it's similar design, that the Micro will give 100% reliability and satisfaction.WHICH SHOULD I BUY? CATEYE STRADA WIRELESS OR MICRO WIRELESS?: If you want a computer that is easier to setup and use, go with the Strada wireless. If you want a computer with a backlight for low-light situations, a separate stopwatch, the ability to choose something other than "current speed" for the primary (non-changing) upper display, and the ability to limit which parameters(avg, max, dst, time, etc) are displayed as you cycle through the computer, go with the Micro Wireless. The Micro takes more time to learn, but its upgrades make it a much more functional computer than the Strada, especially considering that it is cheaper than the Strada at this time. When I use the Strada, I have to wear a sports watch so that I can time laps and sections of the trip separately from the trip timer.CUSTOMIZABLE DISPLAY: I want to clear up some confusion about the Cateye Micro Wireless and its customizable display. There are three spaces for items to be displayed--the upper, middle, and lower parts of the screen. The upper part of the screen can be preset to any parameter you desire, even the stopwatch. It will always be displayed. The blue middle screen is FIXED to display "time of day", will continuously be displayed, and is NON-CUSTOMIZABLE. The lower part of the screen can cycle through all of the parameters and will stay on your last selection. Basically, once you choose what to display on the upper screen, the upper and middle screens never change while the lower screen can cycle through the other parameters by clicking through them. In a nutshell, you can only customize the upper and lower displays.SIMPLER MEANS SAFER: One feature of the Micro that I really like is the ability to limit which parameters are shown when you cycle through the computer. When I am riding with traffic or mountain biking, I don't want to cycle through 7 different parameters to find what I need because that's too distracting. The solution? Turn the parameters off that you don't use and limit the lower display to 2 or 3 options to cycle through. By doing this, you can quickly cycle to what you want without even looking at the computer, then take a quick glance down when it is safe to do so.Below, I have included some instructions that will make using this computer MUCH EASIER than reading the complicated manual or trying to figuring it out. I can't explain everything here, but I can save you a lot of frustration with these tips:INSTRUCTIONS SIMPLIFIED:The Micro has essentially 4 buttons--the AC ("all clear") Reset, Mode, Menu, and SSE (soft tiny button). The AC button resets and deletes all of the information on the computer to factory default. The Mode button has two functions. Quick clicks cycle through whatever is flashing. Holding the Mode button down for 2 seconds either allows modification of something while in the menu, or turning the backlight on/off while riding. When riding, hold down the Mode button for 2 seconds to open the backlight option, then quick click between on/off, then hold down for 2 seconds again to exit back to normal operation. Note: When the computer is attached to the bike's stem/handlebar, the Mode button is depressed by the mounting bracket when the bottom of the computer is pushed down. The Menu button has two functions. It obviously enters the menu and also functions as a back/save button when an item has been modified or when exiting the menu is desired. The SSE (soft middle) button does not function on its own. When the computer is mounted to the bike, pressing on the SSE also clicks the Mode button. THE SSE BUTTON WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ON ITS OWN. IT WILL ONLY FUNCTION WHEN PRESSED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE MODE BUTTON. KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN USING THE COMPUTER AWAY FROM THE BIKE. When quick clicked, it start/stops the stopwatch as well as the trip time when in manual mode ("AT OFF"=manual mode, "AT ON"=automatic start stop caused by motion of the wheel). When held down for 2 seconds, it also clears the data currently being displayed. "Distance 2" and the "stopwatch" must be cleared separately from the other parameters. The other parameters (AVG SPD, MX SPD, TIME, DST) will ALL BE DELETED when any one of them is displayed and cleared by using the SSE button for 2 seconds. If either the "stopwatch" or "distance 2" are in the upper display, they can be reset by cycling to the current speed in the lower display and holding down the SSE button for 2 seconds. Now that you know how to use each of the buttons, you can figure out the rest. It just takes some time. I hope this helps and saves you some time and frustration. Keep riding!

Very adjustable--poor manual and night lighting
The included manual is difficult to decipher, but once you decode it the programming is straight forward. I like that you can change the display to what you really want instead of the default speed and something on the bottom. The night light is a little led on the bottom and haphazardly floods the entire display making it difficult to read at night. It should have led backlight instead, but readability in daylight is excellent. Some have commented on the computer not registering the motion or interference with the signal. I had no such problems, but I did follow the advice to mount the wheel sensors as close as possible (much closer than the specified 5mm). I basically mounted it so if they hit, it will bump the sensor slightly further without breaking it. I also ride with it in the city using my phone and Bluetooth headset, and a flashing led headlight next to the computer--all with no interference issues. As for accuracy, the manual said to use 2068 for my tire size. Starting with that, I eventually found 2106 gave me exactly the right distance on my marked trail, and repeatability is right on riding the same distance. I'm very happy with it.

Very complicated directions.
So I just installed mine on my mountain bike. The directions are absolutely horrible. My battery is almost dead on the computer right out of the box. So now I get to buy a battery for it and I might as well get one for the sensor while I'm at it. I tried to look this product up on YouTube for install help, I suggest not wasting your time unless you have the Strada. There is no video help for this nor could I find a video on the Cateye website. I did download directions which were a little more helpful and have it setup good enough for what I want. The backlight on this product isn't very good at all, it's very dim. I'll update this this weekend when I get to ride and test it further. Hopefully it does better and the battery doesn't die before I get started.

Cateye's mistake---dropped a great feature. Does not wake up automatically if it is asleep (although my old Cateye model did)
I wish that I had never purchased this Cateye. This product does not turn on automatically when the wheel turns. The instruction manual says it starts automatically but then later says you press the botton to start it once it has gone to sleep. My old Cateye would wake up automatically when the wheel turns. What were the product designer thinking?????? If you forget to press the button when starting your ride, the Cateye does not wake up once it has gone to sleep (30 min). I had lengthy chat with Cateye support but this cannot be changed by user. I think that was a very bad change by the manufacturer. Some of the information on the display is very small and difficult to read if you have less than perfect vision.

Was expecting a better product
Its a ok product. You will spent some time to understand the permutation combination of the buttons to set it up. The max speed reading is inaccurate and shows 100 km/hr which is weird. The stopwatch is also irritating, it starts even when you have disabled the function. Lastly, you will need some time to get is used process of removing it from the socket as it keeps slipping and falling.

Often glitches
I enjoy the simplicity of this device but it glitches all the time by picking up cars or my phone or other electronics and running without me riding. It also somehow records speeds of 105km/h+ but that must just be it's limit. Surely if i tried to push the limits of the glitch I could fraudulently brag of speeds closer to mach 4. I have learned how to minimize the occurrences and it has mostly kept up. Overall I would rather pay more for a more eliable bike computer.

Front tire tracking
First set it up for the back tire. It does not track very well on the back tire so I had a poor impression. Front tire distance is good. Tracks nearly instantly and the battery feels like it lasts forever. Less things to change for your busy commute.

Excellent Value.
Very Impressed. Nice large, clear display. Syncs seamlessly with my iPhone 10 plus. Instructions were good, but U-Tube videos helped with setup and use.
