Sharp point!
I got some Escoda and Da Vinci brushes to compare.(Escoda brushes: Reserva, Prado, Versatil. Da Vinci: Maestro, Marder (oil brush), Harbin, Nova)The size 1 feels a little too small for my liking, but I can definitely feel and see the impeccable craftsmanship in this brush and the Maestro liner brush I have. I may get some more of these in a larger size at some point. I did order some more of the Maestro 1200 brushes though.I like all of the Da Vinci brushes I have.Da Vinci has a wide variety of shapes and types of bristles! It's not hard to find the type you want, but it is a little difficult to narrow down the choices. ;DWhen the brushes start to wear out, or "break in" more, I'll come back to update my reviews.

Excellent kolinsky script brushes
The size 10 kolinsky script brush by da Vinci is perfect for both oil and egg tempera painting. especially if you are making longer, delicate strokes with paint. This is a long handled brush typical of oil painting brushes. I bought several of the size 10 -- the sable is about an inch long and tapers to a very fine point. My only criticism is that although the brushes I received were each wrapped in a transparent plastic bag, none of the brushes came with a plastic sheath to protect their delicate sable hairs. Nevertheless, the brushes arrived in good condition (not bent, etc.).

Great for under-/overglaze application!
As I have written elsewhere... Since I bought the size 6, I have put together a set of these brushes (2, 4, 6, 10 & 20) that I use to apply a cobalt/gerstley borate mix (Floyd blue stain) and mason stain/gerstley borate mixes on bisqued porcelain: They're almost perfectly suited to it! They hold quite a lot of material. The point is superb. Flow is superb. Action is excellent. With them I can create beautiful and *long* sharp lines (depending upon technique, of course; they are also well suited to creating a beautiful mess if that's what you're going for!) Worth every penny! (especially at these prices)

Brush shipping is the only downside
I read reviews from people saying the shipping of these brushes is an issue. I found the same. Brush is amazing, but the shipping was loose in a box and some bristles were splayed. I think it's going to settle down but until I figure that out I'm not buying any more. Too bad they can't come up with a simple solution to prevent brush damage. No way I'd buy one of the larger ones and have it damaged.

da vinci kolinsky maestro are beautiful brushes but............
Great brush as usual. The problem, once again a recurring theme,is the packaging. An expensive brush packed only in a padded envelope with no protection to the brush head, sustaining damage to the hair fibers. At this point, regardless of the monetary deals, I am done with amazon for my art supply needs.I will continue shopping them for other, less valuable and fragile items but no more on the artist materials.I have sent packaging feedback countless times and things are getting worse-not better.

Delivered damaged!!!
This is a quite pricey brush and I was very upset that it came with no protection of the brush at all. The brush was in a huge box by itself without any air/paper protection.

Smallish
Oil brushes are usually about half the size as the same number in watercolor brushes. So this #12 oil kolinsky was like a 5 or 6 (in watercolor size).

Paint brush
I bought this paint brush while it was on sale as the cost was quite high. I expected a good product however the first time it was washed ( very gently ) the bristles flared out. I tried to form the bristles while it was drying but the brush never went back to the way it was.

A very poor quality brush
All the bristles were bent and sticking out everywhere when package arrived. A very poor quality brush.
