I was slightly disappointed to open the box and find the microbe was yellow and not pink, as I had ordered it for a baby girl. Otherwise, it's exactly what I anticipated.

The plush I received is purple, not yellow as shown in the item's picture. I teach nurses how to see lactobacilli with a microscope. Gram stained lactobacilli are purple, if not stained they appear clear under a brightfield microscope. My nurses look at unstained slides. I specifically sought out and paid $1 more for this item to get the yellow version of this plush. I'm disappointed I received a purple one.

Giant microbes is getting slightly lazy, as this pretty much resembles about 20 other figures, but hey....it's not like they're trying to pull a fast one. And this one is slightly more contagious, so that's worth the extra dough.

My daughter loves these, and has several that she has collected.

We purchased this lactobacillus acidophilus plushy as a companion to the yeast plushy. We then put them in a giant Mason jar, and then we had a giant "sourdough culture". Yes, my husband bakes bread. Just warped enough to tickle our funny bones!

If you wanted a yellow acidophilus, don’t buy this one. This one is purple and is falsely advertised as yellow in the photo.
