how do you use this vac to suck up water? do you need to replace the filter, or remove it completely? I wasn't sure.

If you are picking up clean water, the pleated paper filter should be removed. When picking up small amounts of liquid the paper filter may be left in place. Please note that when the filter becomes saturated, misting may occur at the blower port. Additionally, when picking up large volume of liquids, the liquid in the drum may reach a predetermined level and the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow.  This occurs to avoid liquids from entering the power head.  When this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. For this reason, it is important NOT to leave the vac running unattended during operation. Before storage, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter.  We recommend that you clean or wash the filter then let it air dry overnight.  Please check the filter for holes or tears after each cleaning. Anyone use indoors? I want the power of shop vac and disposable bag. My first floor is ceramic tile but also want to clean carpet on stairs, etc.

This thing will suck up a cat! I use it indoors on hardwood, having 2 tuxedo cats that shed non-stop. It will work on carpet too. Very handy and easy to carry, but rolls great on its wheels. I don't know if it takes a bag...we just dump the contents in the trash every 3 or 4 weeks and brush off the filter. I have a eureka portable hand vac with beater bar that I use to beat the cat hair off the carpeted stairs, but the Ridged will do it too. I've got a full sized Rigid that I use in the garage and outside. Best shop vacs I've ever owned! Had the big one 4 years now and the small one over 2, still run perfect! Well worth the money.
