Why I chose the MB472w
I learned that LED printers are similar to laser printers but use light-emitting diodes rather than a laser to create images on the print drum or belt so, due to their fewer moving parts, LED printers are often considered more efficient and reliable than laser printers. This machine is feature-packed and very flexible when it comes to coordinating them. Yes, a very few instructions seem a bit cryptic if one is not experienced however, it is true that OKI customer service is readily available and personable. I found this to be offered at a very good price by Adorama (believe me, I have researched) even compared to personal multifunction printers. For example, you can connect it wirelessly, directly to your pc via USB, or to your router via ethernet cable (I am using a 35 ft flat cable) to allow multiple (wireless or direct) networked PC connections, or to a server. I found it most helpful to download the user manual prior to purchase for specs comparison to other multifunction printers.FAXING: This printer can be set up to discern between fax or voice calls thus allowing calls to be deferred to a directly-connected answering machine - all on one phone line. (NOTE: This feature on any machine does not work with voice mail such as FIOS/ VoIP except perhaps via phone server setup. Of course, you can still fax with a VoIP provider that provides a live dial tone.)PRINTING: Although Google will end its Cloudprint by the end of this year, Apple's Airprint feature is also included and there are other cloud printing services available out there. Although it is a monochrome printer, it does include the option to scan in color to your computer, and in different formats. The cartridges do contain volume-tracking chips, as most (if not all) current laser brands do. I have read where people complained about their machine (regardless of brand) refusing to print due to a printer reading "out of toner" when it is not. I read that toners generally have a shelf-life of up to 2 years (unopened) and up to 6 months unpacked. Unless you plan to print at least 300 pages per month, I don't think toner is cheaper than ink jet BUT I ran from inkjet because you either have to use them at least every other day to prevent them from drying out or waste ink via cleaning cycles or you had to have ink in all cartridges regardless of color needed. Now, I go off-site for any color printing, which I rarely need. If you are particular about the sharpness/ grayscaling of print like graphs, etc, I would suggest that you look into differences between LED and regular laser printers. As far as LED printers go, OKI is considered tops and I am very happy with this model, the customer service, and my seller.

A GREAT LITTLE MACHINE
I have a small law office. We've been using a Brother MFC machine that had nagging issues that we just couldn't fix. I didn't want to go for the $3,000 copier company copier with the monthly service plan (our volume isn't that high). A colleague recommended this Okidata machine (a company I don't think I'd even heard of) and so far, it's been great. The controls aren't as intuitive as the Brother's was, but it more than makes up for that in reliability. Nice, crisp scanning, good copies, etc. Assuming it holds up, we're very happy with it.

A useless MFP that doesn't support document scanning in PDF format
After scouring multiple manufacturer websites and reading more professional and purchaser reviews than I can count, I bought this MFP for my small business. I made the wrong decision. It was during the installation and setup process that I decided to return it, before using it even once.I run a paperless office, so the scan function was more important to me than the print and fax functions. I am a Mac user. While this MFP is compatible with the Mac OS, the manual (in the section about how to scan documents to a computer) says, "The [scanned document] file format is JPEG. A file cannot be saved in PDF." Everywhere on the product information pages is plenty of information about the printer's "fantastic" features and capabilities, including its scan functionality. Nowhere on the production information pages does this ridiculous limitation appear. If you want to scan documents to a machine that converts them to pictures in JPEG format so you have to spend time converting them back to documents in PDF format, then this $400 MFP is for you. I can't review any of the functions of this MFP because this bizarre limitation on the scan function makes this machine useless for me right out of the box.

Great printer for lots of printing
I do have a difficult time getting the setting back and working if I change paper size. If using more than one size paper buy it with 2 trays. Very happy with the printer, use it regularly for loan documents.Would buy again.

Oki is Mercedes of printers
First, let me say a word about Oki printers. It is a delight to call Oki for any issue and get a human technical expert immediately without any robo hospitality. You are not asked about warranty, etc. You are helped in the expeditious manner possible. It is so refreshing. The dealer from whom I bought the unit had priced it competitively. I am a happy customer.

Nice product
Nice product, only complaint is if power lose should occur, the unit must be manually turned back on as it should not be connected to a UPS, per manufacturer. This point should appear in the product information. If it was there I missed it. Suspect may be a UL requirement.
