There's better available at half the price.
The overall design and looks are the only reason I bought this. There is little available on the market that looks similar or in the right size and colour. The materials and finish are a little disappointing. Main carcass is made with particle board (the same stuff as IKEA LACK range, so it's very light) with the base and back board from MDF. The integral components are on par with IKEA stuff however that said the quality of the MDF is well below that of iKEA stuff. At least with iKEA when you screw things in the screws stop. These screws free rotate after screwing them down. I'm actually very dubious as to whether or not it can support the 52kg weight of the aquarium. This was the reason in didn't buy a cabinet from ikea as the stated loads for their furniture was 25kg. So how this will support 60-70kg when the materials feel as fragile as they do? That is a daunting prospect....(eek).Gloss finish is only on the front door panel with the rest of the surfaces in standard matt white. There's also no shelf inside. There's also no stabilisers, as the materials it's made from won't support it. So ensure the floor is flat !The build isn't upto much however it does look good. The vented slot in the back is useful and allows cables and so on to be stowed tidily away. The cabinet storage also houses all the unsightly cleaning utensils and equipment for the upkeep of the aquarium and fish. The high gloss white doors are nicely finished with no bumps or bubbles from the thin veneer. The chrome effect handles are sturdy although I would have preferred no handles and have a push/pop open fitting instead. Soft closing isn't an option and the doors do close quite sharply. There's a few bare surfaces which again casts doubt in my mind about build quality. My biggest concern is longevity of the product, given its lightweight build. But I guess only time will tell.My personal thoughts are to stick to IKEA or design your own.Oh at £99 this cabinet is very overpriced. £50 is more of an appropriate price given how it's made. The fact that it's by aqua one and designed for an aquarium is most probably the reason for the price hike.If you buy it though make sure you note it down on your insurance policy. There's a reason why some places give this cabinet free when you buy a fish tank !
