Amazon Basics Exterior Door Knob With Lock, Oval Egg, Matte Black

I normally don’t write bad reviews for things unless they are REALLY bad. In this case, I feel it is warranted. My husband was screwing in the strike plate and the screw head snapped right off. The holes were already predrilled so there is NO reason those screws should be that brittle. Really bad quality if the screw is going to break when being screwed into an existing hole. Furthermore, the other half of the screw is now stuck in the door frame and we aren’t sure what to do about it. Very upset with this product!

We have a manufactured home and purchased this for an interior closet door and rated it for an interior door application. The polished brass matches the other knobs in our house and looks great. The install was smooth without any problem, except a little widening of the latch bolt hole in the door. This interior door is locked and rarely opened and closed, so how this "exterior door knob" will hold up to every day use I can't say for certain. However, the key lock works perfect, and the interior lock/unlock knob works well just in case someone accidentally gets locked inside. Now, that being said, I have installed several exterior locking door knobs for front and back doors over the years. I would say the construction and quality of materials used in this Amazon Basics indicates is of lesser quality and may not hold up to years of everyday use in a front/back door application as well as more expensive brands. It will do in a pinch, but not with a great feeling of long term use and security. I would say it's more suitable to a light duty application like interior and closet doors that rarely get locked, or like a low usage garage entry door.

Out of the box, it is a very attractive set. The price is right and the 4 key set is great. I replaced a fancier kwikset knob and dead bolt with this one and am happy with it thus far. Now on to my gripes. The faceplate pictured with the curved edge is not included. You get two generic plates.The keys that come with it also look pretty cheap, but hey, they do their job. It installs very easily, but on occasion, the knob will stick. Not a huge problem, but a little annoying. Is it worth the money? Yes. Does it look nice and do its job? Yes. So why only three stars? Because of the above mentioned and also because it isn't quite as premium looking as it is in the pictures.

I updated two knobs from the 70’s and these look much better. They were an excellent price on Prime Day-much more stylish for that price than anything in the box stores. Only complaint is that the plate around the latch is welded on. My old doors has just a round latch and these have a rectangle-so I had to mortise out the door to make them fit. It the rectangle plate had been removable it would have been easier. Also, the length of the latch set was about 1/8” longer than the old one, so I had to carve out a bit of space in the door. Looks fine, but if you are replacing older hardware it may not be a super easy swap.

Excellent quality quality, build, finish. This is a replacement knob for a house that is full of brass hardware and hinges. The owner had no desire to start replacing or changing the finishes in the home as they speared no expense when they built it to their taste some 25 years ago. Truthfully, since everything was so high end , it really looks good throughout the house. Trying to buy the exact match for this one bathroom door in a spare bedroom, though, proved difficult and ultimately very pricey. I decided to try this lockset and see what it might look like. It wound being made so well that this will be my “go-to@ one-off replacement lockset for all future jobs of this type. Customer was very happy with the feel and quality as was I. I was proud to offer this as part of my work. Definitely will also be buying this line for whole house update and larger projects where budget-minded quality and tasteful design are called for.

We recently bought a home built in 2000. Everything was brass. Replacing the door hardware was the first easy update I wanted to do. I am very happy with these door knobs. They were easy to install and look and feel nice. Instead of replacing all the door hinges I am trying my luck at spray painting them in this color tone. Everything matches. I ordered passage, privacy, and entry styles.

Nice handle, slightly small in the hand but biggest issue is that it sticks a bit when using. You turn it to open and the handle will stay in that position. I haven't bothered to try and oil it because it usually will bounce back with a light touch and it's on a bathroom door that isn't used often. I need to buy a couple more, but I probably won't buy this one again.

Seller please change the picture it is misleading. The lock is the same as shown in the picture for black color only that it is in bronze. It has the key lock design on one side as showing in the black color lock picture and is not plain oval as shown in current picture. Secondly it is better to post pictures for both sides of the lock.Will have to return now as does not match with my other locks in the house

El material es bueno, el color le va bien con puertas claras le hace resaltar mucho, cuenta con una pequeña llave para botar el seguro, trae su manual y todos sus tornillos de instalación.

We installed these on our doors about 2 years ago. Today one of the door knob mechanisms broke while the door was closed, locking our door in the closed position. Thankfully one of us was on the other side of the door and managed to unscrew the knob and snap off the middle mechanism so we could open the door. There was no warning, on a laundry room door we don’t use as often as the others. We do have another knob that often gets stuck in the open position but that didn’t bother me so much. I’m terrified that my children may get locked in their rooms now so we will need to replace all of our doorknobs.

Me gustó el color, el diseño y que las instalé super fácil, PERO... al sacar una de ellas de la caja se me cayó por accidente y se hundió. Me decepcione mucho, tal vez fue mi culpa pero me hubiera gustado que fueran más resistentes. Y así tuve que ponerla. Se ven bonitas ya puestas. Sólo cuiden de no tirarla como yo.

Al ver pocas piezas pensé que había llegado incompleto, ya que revisé las instrucciones de instalación, me dí cuenta que estaban en regla todas las piezas, tuve un poco de problemas al instalarlo, pero al final es muy cómodo y se ve genial, el precio esta un poco caro, pero el resultado que se tiene al instalarlo, se ve genial lo recomiendo.
