FAAY - Teak Soup Spoons, Chinese Style, Handcraft from High Moist-resistance Teakwood | Healthy Wooden Spoon, Cutlery, Flatware

I ordered these as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. When we opened I was disappointed to see one of the spoons was chipped. As a small business owner, I understand that sometimes things happen in the mail. I messaged the company with a picture and order number requesting that the one spoon be replaced since the others were fine. I got a quick response and they agreed to replace the spoon. They kept me updated on when it would ship and sent a new set of beautiful spoons.

We bought these for hot soups, since that's how they are advertised, but this first time we ate with them the wood on the bottom of the spoon swelled and became rough. So each bite came with an increasingly sandpapery texture. Very distracting and unpleasant. See attached pic for the difference in the surface even when fully dry compared with the two we didn't use. No dishwasher, no soaking in a sink, just eating. They appear smooth, sturdy and attractive out of package. The balance and size seemed just right. Not sure if these were just cut the wrong way with the wood grain to make them so porous or what, but if you don't want a weird fuzzy rasping sensation with your lentil soup, better to skip these. Too bad. Really wanted to love but had to return. :(

It's a wonderful thing to hold a handcrafted wooden spoon. I have a new soup thermos that typical spoons did not have the right spoon bowl to work. The teak crafted spoons here are wonderfully deep and angled just right for the depth of my soup container. Works splendidly. Its a bonus to be able to support a small business such as this. Well done.

So glad I found these spoons. I purged my kitchen of ceramic items and many contain glazes or paint containing lead. These spoons have been the perfect alternative to the Chinese-style soup spoons. They're great for using with soup, noodle soup, etc. They're easy to handle and are a good size - my 4-year-old daughter uses them, too. The spoons are perfectly smooth and there's no lacquer on them - non-toxic and safe. I would be sure to wash them after use and air dry right away - soaking the spoons may warp the shape when they dry.

I especially like that there are no chemical finishes on these - just the teakwood.
