Great REAR tire for dry and rocky terrain, Good FRONT tire
This is my 3rd Slant Six tire. This one weighed in at exactly 700 grams. I plan on using this new tire on the rear of my 29er hardtail, I also purchased a Kenda Nevegal 2.2 for the front (weighed in at 830 grams). I will review that tire once I put some miles on it.Currently I have Slant Six tires for front and rear on my bike, they lasted me about 1.5 years of riding about twice or 3 times a week in the AZ desert. 90% trail and 10% road to get to the trails. We have a lot of rocky terrain, loose over hardpack, and sand. Initially the rear was wearing out faster than the front, so I rotated them a few times to balance things out. 1.5 years is longer than I expected them to last, after the 1st few months, they were showing signs of wearing out quickly but they hung on, and surprised me. I run my tires with tubes and about 30-35 psi (I am about 180 LBS with gear and hydration pack) and I get an occasional flat from a thorn or goathead, but no pinch flats. I did set these tires up tubeless with Stans (on Mavic wheels) but the tubeless thing wasn't for me. The tires did fine tubeless, but I didn't adjust to it very well. Too messy and I never felt comfortable....I think the Slant Six is a better rear tire than front, that is why I am trying the Nevegal this time. In the front, I have slid and lost grip on fast or descending turns. Also, it is easy for my brakes to overpower the grip of the tire on quick stops. Although I think that some of the challenges that I have experience with this tire up front comes from the 2.0 size. A slightly larger footprint (wider tire or lower psi) might solve that for me. On the rear however, this tire has been great! It grips very well on technical climbs, despite its smaller knobs. If I stay in the saddle with my weight biased toward the back, the tire never spins. It seems to roll very fast, and provides great rear braking traction.I bought my first set of Slant Sixes to replace the Specialized Fast Trak wire bead tires that came stock. I immediately noticed a difference over the stock tires with regard to weight. Those wire bead tires were heavier (about 830 grams worn out, I never weighed them new) and that made a difference with acceleration. The Specialized tires lasted a lot longer in months, but it is hard to say how many more miles were put on them. As I have gotten more and more into biking, my rides are now 15 - 25 miles now versus 1-5 miles initially.I can't comment on how this tire performs in mud.The other tires that I was considering were the Conti Race King and / or Trail King. They seem to be a good value for the money, but ultimately I can't foresee being any more please with the Slant Six as a rear tire. So I decided to stick with what I know! Especially at the price that you can find Kenda tires at.

Wearing quickly.
This is a low knob type of tire, the tread is very minimal, and it rolls very fast. After installation two months ago there was an immediate drop in rolling resistance that I could feel. Traction is very good despite the low tread. I have ridden on hard pack, loose rocks, sandy soil over rock, light mud, and just a little bit on the road to get to the trail. This 29x2.0 is on the rear.I also have a 29x2.2 Slant Six on the front. Good traction, but it seems to wander a bit compared to the original Specialized Captain Sport 29x2.0s that came stock front and rear.Bottom line is I am happy with the way they ride and the low rolling resistance, but I do not think they are going to last long. After two months of riding once or twice a week for about six miles, the rear is starting to wear visibly. Compared to my original tires that lasted me over two years, I am disappointed. Maybe it's supposed to be a race tire? I haven't seen that printed anywhere on Kenda's site or elsewhere. I research any purchase I make quite extensively, I'm not rich, so trust me, I read about tires until I was completely sick of tires. If they last a year at this rate I will consider myself lucky. If the rubber compound was a little harder for longer life, or Kenda marketed this as a race tire that isn't supposed to last , I wouldn't have anything negative to say. There are a lot of people saying they got pinch flats with these, I have had no problems, and I do run through rock gardens pretty aggressively sometimes, with the occasional rim strike that can be felt. If it matters, I am running Slime tubes. No flats ever on this bike in two and a half years. I think they are thicker, my old ones had lots of abrasion on them, and one thorn puncture when I pulled them out, but never a pinch flat, even when I let the air run low.

I really like this tire!
I'm embarrassed to say how old my rear tire was but rest assured the knobs were short and the rubber was hard. This Kenda S6 is AWESOME!!!!! I only rode ten miles off road Sunday and the improvement was amazing! I ride So Cal area so it hard packed, sand, rocks and not much mud. The traction I got with this new tire on the rear just made me smile. In fact, the rear is so good now on my 'not new' Fisher MTB I am going to have to put on a Kenda S6 on the front. I almost crashed hard due to the old front tire, it crabbed a bit on a narly down hill, rocky section then I had it slide sideways about a foot, I lost my right foot pedal and just barely saved it. I think a new front tire is now in order for my personal safety!! It'll be another Kenda S6!

Great for hardpack trails on the rear.
Great tire for dry hardpack on the rear, and the DTC seems to wear pretty well but provide solid grip. It's also a great compromise tire for a bike that sees some trail/path use with it's low rolling resistance but still good grip on hard pack trails.

great xc trail bike tire.
Best tire I have used to date. A great combo of low rolling resistance and endless cornering grip. I run them tubeless on Stans ex arch rims with around 25 to 28 psi.. I have had these running for about 6 Mons and they are holding up great. My last tire was a crossmark that deteriorated quickly when ridden hard on loose rocky nor cal singletrack.

its a great XC tire
They have very low rolling resistance, but have little bite and leave a bit to be desired through the sand. Over all, its a great XC tire. I am used these on a tubeless setup, even though they are not UST tires, but they have held up well so far.

Great all around tire !
Nice tire ! Ride Island Lake Rec. Area in MI. Fast easy trail, typical dry loose with hard pack.We have had record rain this summer and it has preformed very in slicker "greasy" conditions.Took a few rides and playing with the air pressure to get them just right. These work great on the paved trails also !
