Installation was quick and took about 20 minutes. I watched a couple of YouTube videos before starting, and with just a few basic tools anyone can swap this part out. I’d definitely buy another one if I ever need to replace another door in the future. Doing it myself saved a lot of money, and the actuator works perfectly — the truck now locks and unlocks with the remote just like it should.

This actuator was a perfect replacement fit for my 2013 Toyota Camry. Installation only took around 20 minutes. It seems pretty durable and hopefully it will last for the next 10 years. It’s a great value as it’s half the cost of OEM part.

I suspect the quality is inconsistent with this manufacturer. Others seem to have no issue. However, mine almost left me stuck with being unable to open the door manually from outside or inside. It was someWhat ok for a few days. (The ‘somewhat’ is described below) The lock was installed by a skilled and trusted mechanic. His comment was that the entire actuator unit would not line up with latch pin quite right. The door would stay shut after slamming it harder than I normally would. After a few days passed the door would not unlatch from the inside our outside handle. Luckily, after fiddling with the remote lock and unlock for a few minutes, the handle released the door open. I’m not sure if the actuator mechanism ‘unstuck’ itself somehow. Needless to say, it would have been a massive headache to fix if I didn’t get lucky. I imagine that the door panel would have to be ripped open with a latched door to access the broken actuator. This would likely destroy the panel and require a new one. My suggestion is that you purchase the OEM unit instead from Amazon. It was $100 more, but it installed perfectly, lined up perfectly, and operates with 0 issues. With a little research, you’ll find it on Amazon. It’s roughly $130. I compared it to the cheap unit and OEM. The cheap unit looks and feels substantially worse than the OEM/$130 unit.

I just replaced this piece on my driver side door after 8 years of using the key to lock and unlock the door every day. I watched a YouTube video on how to do it and was able to get it fixed in an hour with zero mechanic experience. You will need a 10mm socket (to losen the window guide so you can slip the actuator out), a size 30 torx screwdriver and a Philips screwdriver. Very happy with the part. Hope it lasts!!! I have a 2012 camry and it fit perfectly.

6 year update - no issues, haven’t thought about since. 4 star because the issue I had with the first one. ——- Update after a year and a half. Worked pretty well up until recently. The key core never did work, I was never able to use the key despite it being properly aligned. The 2016 Tundra only has 1 key hole so I'd have been SOL if battery ever died. However, the driver door no longer unlocks using the keyless entry. The only way in is to use keyless entry and open the passenger door and reach across to unlock the driver door. Buying another one because $38 for a year and a half worth of door lock is still the better option than paying $350 for the one from Toyota for me right now. ---------------------- Easy to install with a few basic tools. Kind of a pain getting exterior door handle rod to line up with the hole it needs to go if you have big hands, but that’s not because of the product. Only 4 stars because the little bump thing where the wire harness clips in isn’t big enough to make the harness “click” and lock into place. Can pull the harness out without depressing the release button. Haven’t driven enough to see if road vibration will cause it to slip out. But for now seems like a good product. Will update review of harness becomes a problem. Tip: to get exterior door lock to align, removing the lock itself before installing makes so much easier to push the lock back in when the actuator is in place. As opposed to trying to make the actuator line up to the door lock.

3rd party actuator that’s going to save you $150-$200. All the mechanical functions feel a little third party, but it works well, and is easy to replace. If you're replacing from YouTube videos, make sure the video you use also covers reconnecting the keylock (it's an extra step, and one more screw to loosen/tighten). (Updated rating - issues I did have were self induced.)

I installed the unit on my Lexus IS250, and the door worked fine for a week. Now, it’s not opening properly from the inside. It is poor quality, I’ll be returning it.

One defect! You cannot lock your door from the inside once installed. If you lock it from the inside as soon as you close the door, it unlocks the lock! Very inconvenient!
