Garmin Nuvi 58LM 5-Inch GPS Navigator (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I would like to start by saying I have been using this GPS since July.. I can select the same destination multiple times and it seems to arbitrarily choose a path. The look and feel of the GPS is nice but the actually functionality of choosing a destination, the devices path selection, and the four square app is terrible. My old Garmin was way better.

Works perfectly and is exactly what I wanted. I plugged it in, it came on automatically and asked for three prompts (US, English & User Agreement) and it was ready to go. The user interface is simple. Very impressed with the spoken landmarks.I bought the optional CD player mount and couldn't be happier.

Works great. I made several trips from Oregon to California, Nevada, and Arizona, and only found a few minor map inaccuracies. I've had previous Garmin devices and they all got me there and back home. I like them better than integrated units that come with cars since you can position them where you want. They are safer as well, since you can put them where they do not distract you from the road while glancing at them for directions.

These things get better every couple years, and this unit is no exception - it's a highly functional, highly capable, easy to use GPS. I do not think the instructions are especially well written, but they are adequate. My only serious knock on its performance (the missing star) is that it all too frequently makes rather last minute announcements like "turn left at the next traffic signal" - which may be less than a couple hundred feet away with a left turn lane already full of cars. Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to be irritating.

Love the new Garmin which I tried out on a recent trip to Canada and the Northeast. It got us everywhere we wanted to go and very easy to set. It's small and lightweight and fits right below the dashboard of the car. A big improvement over my 8 yr. old Tom Tom!

I tried for around 4 hours to get this product up and running with no success. Initially maps downloaded using Garmin Express, then i could not open the maps, unit was saying "maps corrupted". Downloaded a couple of times more, still same problem. then I got message saying "maps locked". At this point I gave up and returned the unit.My current Nuvi 40, has also stopped downloading updates, and this new purchase was to replace the Nuvi 40.I am not at all happy with Garmin

I got this for my sister and she likes it. No complaints. It comes with Canada USA maps which was important to her.

Garmin was very professional in helping me download updated maps. The unit works fine.

It tends to pick strange routes. For example, it tells us to go up our street, turn right, turn right again instead of going down half the distance and turning left on quiet residential streets. Or it takes you on the collectors for a bit just to put you on the express once again.Maybe I am just a person who really likes maps,(and i am) but I personally find I can navigate better.

The lane feature is useful. It seldom says "recalculating" which is nice. Sometimes, however, it is rather slow telling you to make a turn. On a number of occasions I have been very close to an intersection before it tells me to turn. Overall I like the unit. It is an improvement over the old model I had.

Bought this product for work on sale. Glad I did. It works perfectly. Easy to use and setup. My only problem is the amount of memory on it. You're going to need a SD card if you want more memory on it.

Very nice display and functions as it should.

Great product does what it's supposed to do.
