Do not buy!
I cannot recommend. The maintenance on this product was excessive. Had to clean scale out of reservoir every 2 weeks. The cost of operation was also high. After one year it stopped working. Called customer service which wad no help at all. Throwing it out.

Nice replacement for Honeywell TrueSteam self-destructing whole house humidifier.
Bought as a replacement for Honeywell TrueSteam self-destructing whole house humidifier. Like so many (all?) TrueSteam owners, mine needed new Honeywell 50027998-002 sensor kit within 3 years & went completely within 5 years (leaking, water valve failure). So went on hunt for replacement.Though Aprilaire 800 or similar may be the "best" alternative that's more of a commitment $$$-wise, space-wise & needs new dedicated 220v run to work effectively. Chose this HSP2000 instead because I could install myself, connecting to same feeds as TrueTrash Honeywell. What a difference the two are; TrueCrap Honeywell is all plastic, fragile & complex, HSP2000 all metal, built like a tank & ultra-simple design (relying on separate external bits).Removed & tossed TrueGarbage, put a plate over its hole, located HSP2000 down-stream on main supply duct & re-routed connections. Worked very well this first season & see no reason it shouldn't keep doing so. One-star off for more/much external bits & connections (owing to the main units simplicity), harder to remove & clean (must disconnect stuff) and the metal box w/electronics gets very hot during operation - should maybe have passive ventilation holes or slots of some kind.

Dry steam at its best!!!
Dry steam at its best!!!Remember hot air is dry and it will always make you feel cold.Indoor Air Quality (IOA) recommends humidity between 30-60%.Invest in whole house humidifier with outdoor and indoor sensors that could be wireless linked to good Honeywell wireless thermostat and you wont regret. We use steam humidifier that is controlled with same Honeywell total comfort thermostat. It the best solution for energy saving and great comfort level. If you found review useful please give thumbs up/If you have questions on sensors, thermostat or humidifier please feel free to ask i will be glad to respond.Thank you!We had 2 April-air 700 series humidifiers with water pads that simply could not keep up with steam demand.Purchased this humidifier for 3800 sq f home.Being in Chicago we have cold dry winters.Outside air controls suggests humidity between 30-60%.Humidifier requires 120 V outlet and one 120 V outlet for automatic flusher. It maintains humidity above 40% with no issues. If you found my review useful please let Amazon know.If you have any questions before ordering let me know and i will be happy to help.

Does the Job - Not Trivial to Install
Major work to install but does it's job. Because we have 2 zones this had to be installed in the vertical output of the furnace which required building a transition for the unit. I find it needs to run a lot to keep our 2,400 sq ft at 40 RH.Unfortunately the tank on my unit is already developing a crack right at the water line from the heat so I'll have to get some warranty support on that.

Great humidifier.
Purchased this to replace an Autoflo stem humidifier. Install went well. Was not direct replacement so relocation was required. It took almost a week for it to make up for the 3 month lack of humidification this fall/winter. Snice it has done an excellent job. The auto flush is a nice feature. End of season cleaning will tell how helpful that is.

Buy this humidifier and don't waste your time with others
I can't say enough good things about this device. I've previously used a blow through device and it just didn't work well. This humidifier creates wonderful warm most air. Last year was the healthiest winter for our family in a long time. We have extreme levels of calcium in our water, and the automatic drain/purge option works great to keep the build up under control. Note that you may need a relay to hook this up to your thermostat/furnace. Also note that this thing draws a LOT of power, you may need a dedicated circuit. You will probably not be able to connect it to your furnace breaker.

They instructions were easy to follow
I had to do a side mount instillation because of a split discharge on my furnace. They instructions were easy to follow, with the exception of the wiring. I had to read them a couple of times in order to make sense. You do need a dedicated outlet as stated. The unit works exactly as it should, took a little over a full day (32 hrs.) to bring our 1750 sq.ft.home from 12%to 45% r.h in 0-30 degree weather, using regular 70 deg.setting on t- stat. We do have an all electric heat pump, and it did run the fan for almost 24 hrs.but now only cycles a few additional times a day.

Works really well
Amazing unit. Will never go back to drum type humidifer again. House is 2600 sq. ft. and works well. If I had to do it again, I may have spent the extra to get the 220V version. You need to be an expert home handyman to put it in... or you will need to hire someone to do it for you. It was at the top of my proficiency level. Only issue with it is that sometimes the humidisat does not call to turn the unit on. Turning the humidistat down and back up again turns it on... not too worried about it.
