Perfect for OG Xbox 1TB HDD upgrade.
Perfect for OG Xbox 1tb HDD upgrade. Running for a year now with no issues. Love the extra connector for when you need to copy the drive, saved me the cost of an extra adapter. Don’t buy the cheap crap, get the good stuff.

Works flawlessly
I got two of these for my retro AMD Athlon XP socket A machine. Both work with more modern SATA dvdrom and Blu-ray drives like a charm !

Installs easily. But didn't work when connecting a SATA optical drive to burn DVDs/CDs.
I wanted to replace an old IDE/PATA DVD/CD Combo drive with a new optical drive capable of reading and writing double layer DVDs. I bought an LG Super Multi optical drive. The adapter is super easy to install. Just look at the photos. It's really a pretty cool little device. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with the LG SATA optical drive.Prior to installing the LG, I went into the Device Manager and uninstalled the old IDE/PATA DVD/CD Combo device. I also uninstalled all of the ATA Channels and the ATA/SATA Controllers. I powered down and swapped out the IDE/PATA drive with the SATA one, connecting it using the adapter. Powered back up and the drivers reinstalled automatically. The new SATA drive seemed to work just fine at first. It was able to read discs without any problems. Unfortunately, I was never able to successfully burn a disc. One of two things would happen. My computer would either freeze and lock up during the burn, or the burn would finish, but it would say that it was unsuccessful.Freezing during the burn was the worst case. I would have to forcefully turn off the power and restart my computer. This happened, or the burn would not succeed, with complete regularity. So, although the optical drive read discs just fine, it would simply not write to discs at all. I really wanted that to work, but it was to no avail.I ended up installing an LG IDE/PATA Super Multi optical drive that supported double layer discs. The write attempts that failed using the SATA drive succeeded with no problems using the IDE drive. There must be something about connecting a SATA drive using the adapter that interfered with the drive's ability to burn discs.I still thing the adapter is a very cool and useful device. And I'm sure that there are other use cases beyond connecting a SATA optical drive where the device works perfectly fine. Perhaps the adapter works connecting a hard drive or SSD. So I'm still giving it four stars. It would be five if only the device worked for me connecting a SATA drive.

Works fine every time I've used it if the drive was not fried.
Saves the day every now and then when a drive is needing a spin up and access via USB.
