Sand casting aluminum protection
I just began my adventure with aluminum/sand casting spring 2022. After great success with my first few plaque castings using Petrobond sand (Teton-Bond Petrobond 190 mesh), I noticed the raw, unpainted portions of the castings were very susceptible to staining from normal handling with my hands. After watching automotive programs sponsored by Sharkhide, I decided to look into the product. Imagine my surprise at the price of a relatively small amount of this product! However, as the clichรฉ says, "you get what you pay for." Sharkhide is super easy to use, no spray guns or any other special tools needed to protect the castings I worked so hard to produce. The resulting finish is difficult to detect with the naked eye since Sharkhide does not seem to change the polished raw aluminum finish, but it definitely protects the raw metal from fingerprints or other marks from handling with only 2 thin coats. For my purposes, the quart size I chose will probably last several years of hobbyist use.

As described
Goes on smooth. Dries fast. I used it in metal art on my patio. Important to remove any rust that may be present so that was the most time consuming. I put on 2 coats and still have an abundance of product remaining.

Finally a product that could coat raw metal
A friend of mine, recommend this product to me and Iโm pretty blown away by it so far. I have exposed raw metal on my engine that I would like to keep the color of raw metal. I didnโt want to paint it and this is the only product on the market that I found that I could coat raw metal with. Iโve did a test run on a alternator bracket on my engine and itโs been over three weeks already and the metal looks just as new as when I did the coating. So far so good there is no sign of rust anywhere on the raw metal. I will continue to use the product and give an update later once itโs over six months. as of right now Iโm very impressed with it and I would highly recommend it if you like the looks of raw metal.

Finally got it to work the way I wanted it to
I'm finishing steel decorative items and finally achieved the results I'm looking for. I'm not looking for a high polish but instead want the metal to have a grinded texture/look. I've been frustrated trying to get a clean application. I tried the white 100% cotton white diapers and the result was awful. Little bitty 1/8-1/4 threads were left to dry in the finish. So I tried 100% cotton white flour sack dish clothes. These worked better but still left a few tiny threads here and there so I washed and dried them. This improved results even a little more but still left an annoying thread here and there. After much wasted time, what worked for me were micro fiber wash clothes! It wasn't even a white one. Completely contrary to their FAQs... "Q: Can I use other items to wipe on SHARKHIDE? A: Since we've not tested all other types of applicators, we can only tell you to avoid the following things. Lint, textures (such as Teri Cloth, or Micro Fibers), dyes, detergent residue, dry cleaning chemicals, sponges or any thing else that will leave anything behind in the SHARKHIDE clear coat. Since a Cotton Baby Diaper has none of these properties, why not stick to that?"

Prepare properly and use sparingly.
Recommended by a friend to protect cast aluminum motor/ transmission mounts. These parts were first vapor blasted, a high pressure water blast containing small ceramic beads, which restores the finish to better than brand new. Apply a very small amount per the instructions, allow time to dry. The layer of protection the Shark Hyde offers is outstanding. Not cheap, but well worth the quality and protection. This is a great alternative to a product called XPS Rust Blocker that I could not find in the US.

Follow the instruction, go to Wal-Mart and buy some cloth diaoers and apply as instruced
I recently spent about 60 hrs cleaning and polishing my toons on my pontoon boat. I read and ordered this from Amazon but completed my polishing before it arrived. I did not want to put my boat in the water without some kind of protectant on it due to all the work I had done. I went to numerous stores before I found a product that was to protect aluminum. I applied it and went to the lake. Upon pulling my pontoon boat out that night I proceeded to attempt to wipe the water spots off and got really upset. The water spots were like minerals and would not wipe off, needless to say, I was quite discouraged. The next day I sprayed pure vinegar on it and wiped it down and it cleaned up very well and resorted to the fact that I was not going to spend the time to do this every time I went to the lake. I am a guide and am there every other day. I figured it would slowly go back to the way it was and I was o.k. with that. Then the next day Shark Hide arrived, I had already decided that I would return it and let the boat slowly go back to how it was. Upon opening the package I discovered it had gotten a leak from shipping and could not return it, I was a little pissed the way my project was going. I then thought about it, this is made by American Toon. It is for bare aluminum, not your car and your fiberglass boat and as an afterthought also aluminum. It is only for bare metal including aluminum. So I applied it as instructed and went to the lake that night. Upon pulling the boat out and clients leaving I proceeded to attempt to wipe it off as I had before on the other product and was prepared to be disappointed. As I started wiping it down, my exact words were Holy Sh.., this stuff actually works! It took me about 6-7 minutes to wipe my entire boat down and remove all the water spots. This stuff actually works. I have never wrote a testimonial before but as good as this stuff is I thought I owed it to them. Oh and by the way, they replaced my can that was 1/2 leaked out with a new one. Great customer service and a product that actually works.

Leaves a shiny finish that should last years
Great product we now have clean and shiny pontoons! The first time they were done it lasted 10 years. Hope they havenโt changed the product since then. Well worth the work to do it and then use this product

Easy application - watch the YouTube video
This stuff is really expensive! Sure hope it lasts and prevents oxidation for a few years on my polished pontoons.
