Simple, easy, cheep!
I have an old TV which has the old style connecter. The TV screen looks good, and the speakers still work great. Better than most newer TV's come with. This is why I wanted to hang on to it. The RCA Compact RF Modulator was a smart buy because it lets me hood up RCA cables to my TV such as my DVD player. Before, I was using my VCR to hood up to my tv and also to my DVD player. Since I hadn't used the VCR in years, it was just there to let me watch DVDs. I wanted to see if I could streemline my setup a bit and put the ol dVCR away. Many RF modgeulaters were around the same price but this was clamed to be compact. I didn't want something to be big and take up the room I was trying to save by putting my VCR away, so I setteled on this one. What's in the box? Two things, the RCA Compact RF Modulator and an AC connecter. The RCA Compact RF Modulator has three RCA cable connections, an AC connection and one TV and one Antenna connection. I'm assuming it can also be used for cable TV, though I've not tried that yet. Setup was simple, I connected my antenna to the converter box, connected the converter box to the, antenna connection on the Modulator, connected my TV to the TV connecgtion on the Modulator, and connected my DVD player to the RCA ports on the Modulator. I tried to see if it would work without the Modulator being plugged in to power, but this couldn't be done. Not even with the antenna. I plugged it in to power and everything worked like it should. It's been a few weeks with a fare bit of use, watching over the air TV and watching a few DVD's. Not bad for $10.00 if you still want to hang on to an old tv.

the picture quality is BETTER then when I had RCA connectors directly into the ...
This adapter may have saved me from needing to buy a new TV set. I have to say that while not "top end" its anything but "Cheap, garbage" that you will not know if it will even last a day of use. I have a few RCA devices hooked up into a switch (multi in and one out) where the out of THAT adapter goes to the RCA inputs of this unit.... I have had NO problem on any device and to be 100% honest ... the picture quality is BETTER then when I had RCA connectors directly into the RCA connectors of my TV (the picture was darker than it should have been and not as sharp as it is now.... eventually the RCA connectors ON THE tv "went bad" and while I am sure I could get the skills to fix it ... this Adapter allows me not to have to worry about fixing it for now)The one issue is that "switch" inside the unit that changes from say your TV tuner to the RCA device when that device is turned on ... It's just my personal opinion but I'd rather have an 'on/off" switch for this or an "RCA/Coax" switch on the side but that's not to say the automatic switcher is not working, so far It has been NO PROBLEMIf you need a device like this, I'd recommend it as like me a simple adapter like this could save you from having to buy an entirely new TV for example.

Easy to install and operate for us! Recommend without hesitation.
We have an older TV; a 21" RCA we bought in 1997. We just purchased a used Maganavox VCR/DVD player manufactured in 2011, which doesn't have a coxial connection. therefore, we needed to buy one of these. We actually purchased two at the same time from amazon. This one and the Audiovox CRF907R Compact RF Modulator from RCA. This one works as it should without issues. Of course, we're not using that VCR regularly yet, as it's just a back up for when the one we are using dies. We will update this review should something change. It seems pretty durable enough. What you see in photos is what you get.In the meantime, it does what is should when tested and you can't beat the price. I have no problems with recommending it to others. In fact, both of these modulators are operated and function in the exact same way without any issue or difficulty. It was easy to install and use.

Made my old tv work with cable!
Woo-hoo! I bought this a while ago and honestly forgot I had it until I wanted to hook-up a very old tv with a cable box. This worked seamlessly and now the landfills (or wherever old televisions go to be processed) are saved from yet another well made, but outdated product taking up space. Reduce, reuse and recycle with neat devices like this one.

Keep It Simple Stupid
My wife has been hanging on to a DVD/VHS combo that at this rate is becoming a technological wonder. After collecting dust for years, it still works, and is unusually reliable compared to new devices capable of playing DVDs.Our HDTV doesn't have the Yellow, Red, and White RCA/Composite connections, so it was up to me to make some magic happen. I thought about Composite to HDMI, but after realizing the issues people are having, the need for an amplified module, I just didn't even want to bother.I read other options for connecting, but the common problem was color issues, or it would cut out. I decided to just "Keep It Simple Stupid."The HDTV settings on my Vizio had to be on Cable, under the channel setting where you switch between Cable and Antenna Setting. Also even when powered on, our DVD/VHS player will show "No Source/No Picture" until you press play, so hopefully this might help somebody with this mind boggling problem.
