Nice head unit for single or GM 1.5 din installs
Replaced a factory GM 1.5din unit in my custom audio install, did not want to modify my dash for a 2din and wanted a screen for a backup cam, works nice, easy enough controls once you figure them out and looks good, nice bright display too.Wired via rca’s to an amp, so can’t say if built in power can push speakers with any clarity, but the EQ functionality is nice to customize the sound to your liking once you dial in your amp.The camera button is a good touch as well, turn it on whenever you like, it’s a nice modern unit when you have limited options and don’t want to or can’t hack up your dash. After owning for a bit would like to add the following: built in software could use a bit of polish, it defaults to FM on power up if you disconnect from the iPhone or Bluetooth input, would be better if it remembered the last used input and some of the functions are hidden behind long button presses/semi hidden menus, would have been better to add them to the main menu even if you had to scroll a bit further. Pairing via Bluetooth is fairly easy and the speakerphone function works surprisingly well. It’s also a shorter unit as it has no CD player, so was able to coil and stuff the extra rca cables behind it, that’s a plus. Overall better than I expected for the price and a lot cheaper than a CarPlay single din unit.Would also like to add that I dislike the front usb, would have bee better to have a rear one and could run the cable to where it’s needed.Update: JVC released a new firmware (10/19) and Bluetooth audio sounds better and connects faster, also it now seems to hold the last input used, also fixed a small issue with time setting via radio RDS, have not noticed anything else different

Upgraded my radio system in my Chevy Malibu 2000
This was a great upgrade for my Chevy Malibu 2000. Just amazing sound quality. Before, the radio barely caught any channels and had static in the sound, and I had no way to connect Bluetooth in my car. This solved my problem. There are a few minor quirks, and the fqct we had to get it professionally installed, but overall it was worth it.Pros:-Quality sound-Easy and quick to connect to Bluetooth-Customize sound dynamics, like the beats-Easy to navigate music, like Spotify-Comes with USBCons:-Needs to be professionally installed if you do not know anything about cars and/or electric-Cannot customize color or background-At first, panel was confusing to understand and navigate-Cannot play Bluetooth music and take pictures at the same time (I tried to take a video of the sound while on Bluetooth, but it would not let me)

Excellent unit and I love it, but you MUST do the update.
This radio works very well. Sound quality is good along with all features. I really like the camera button right on the face. Also, I have a small 32GB USB plugged in, which is packed with music, and that works great. One negative is the lack of specific Bass and Treble controls. The equalizer can be used to adjust them but it is across several channels and is a little tedious to use regularly.Others and myself have experienced issues with power outages/memory loss. This has been completely fixed for me by the update from JVC's website.

This thing is a real disappointment in 2021.
This thing is very low on features compared to something from say, Pioneer. And mine has issues where it reboots itself on repeat and the clock doesn't hold the time you set. In fact, if you go to the screen to set the clock, you can never get it to change from AM to PM or vice versa, but you can cycle up to like 32:00??? And then when you set it, the radio resets itself and reboots. It's just cheap junk that JVC/Kenwood should be ashamed to having unleashed for public consumption. Of course, I've installed it in my truck now and I don't want to tear it out to try to return it. The only reason I bought it is because I have single DIN restriction and wanted a video screen for a back-up camera.Other problems with this radio is there is always a static noise present. Even with the truck not running, you have this low volume hiss/noise regardless of if you're on FM radio or bluetooth. This thing doesn't even stack up to 30 dollar units from Dual or Boss that you find at Wal*Mart. A real dud. I'm going to look for a firmware update via USB and see if I can get it to work better. I will report back if that fixes it. Even if it was working correctly, the lack of a decent user interface is disappointing. It feels similar to an Alpine stereo I bought in 2008, but it's 2021... Way behind the curve on tech and user experience.UPDATE: I went to JVC's website and downloaded the firmware update. You download one zip file and then have to load one of three files onto the correct type of flash drive. It took me three USB drives before it worked. Anyway, you load each file in the order in which their .pdf instructions state and run each firmware update one at a time. So you have to sit in your car with a laptop and a working USB drive (has to be USB 2.0 and FAT32 format) so you can do each step manually.Huge pain, and I'm pretty sure someone like my parents would brick their stereo trying to do this.BUT, the clock now works and keeps time when you leave the vehicle and come back to start it later. So that's a plus. The stereo has also stopped randomly rebooting itself. The firmware is a win, but JVC should have never released this into the wild. 90% of owners will not be able to figure out how to get it working right. And when it is working right it's just a ho-hum stereo. The noise floor is still noisy. When you have the radio powered on there's always a constant hiss. This thing is best suited for beater cars, but then it's overpriced by about a factor of 2x.
