Looks like the real deal and performs as such
It looks like the genuine item, down to the "sony" name on the mic body. And it really does allow auto-calibration of your surround speakers. I tested it by moving my listening position to other off-center positions in the listening area and in each case it adjusted the speakers so the sound arrived to that point in perfect surround... i checked non calibrated locations to confirm the affect was indeed at the calbrated location... it works great... in fact, to be able to put the sound focal point way off center and still experience surround sound was quite amazing ...

Works for Pioneer VSX-L101
My Pioneer receiver came with the house, but was missing the MCACC mic. Purchased this thinking they are all the same and turns out either they are, or close enough. Plugged it in, ran the auto set up & it correctly recognized & balanced my speakers to the room. Gave 4-stars based on the plastic construction, seems cheap, but it worked.

Works with Integra DTR 30.2 receiver!
After running the Audessey calibration setup, the difference is like night and day. I was pulling out my hair trying to get center channel audio levels set up properly, but one run of the speaker calibration software in my 7.1 system and OMG what a difference.I'm keeping this mic around for any and all future surround systems as well.

Reviews are valuable
Like many, once my receiver was set up I put my calibration microphone somewhere in or near the Bermuda Triangle. My Onkyo NR646 needed a recalibration yet worldwide search yielded no available replacements. I was about to purchase a newer version of the Onkyo. I happened upon a review of this Sony calibration microphone. I ordered it.Plugged it in upon arrival- calibrated- absolutely shocking result — sounds better than the original saved me $500 at least. Reviews matter.

Perfect replacement
I lost the mic for my Onkyo receiver and desperately need to recalibrate after upgrading my front and center speakers. Ordered this with crossed fingers. Contradictory to purist advice, using a Sony mic with an Onkyo worked beautifully. Spacial and tonal alignment are now spot on.

Good product but
Works well but sometimes my receiver just randomly stops the sound test , not sire if its my recover or because this thing loses connection but worth knowing
