How many pieces will this hold?

We have an 8 piece set in ours. I can probably hold up to 12 easily.

Do these latch or lock tightly for travel? Are these really dishwasher safe?

They are great trays! They latch but not too tightly. If traveling I would recommend additional closure like an elastic around it. But for use in the cabinet they latch just fine. I never tried using them in the dishwasher but washed them in the sink and they washed beatifully. Have a safe trip!
