UPDATE: both bears we received stopped working within less than a year. My husband tried fixing them & it worked for a short period but the wires they are made with are just too small and fragile. On both bears the only button/function that continued working was the lullaby songs (the only one we didn't use). So as much as we wanted to love this bear to begin with, I'm very disappointed at how short a life span they have. And I'd add that this bear sat in one spot. Was never played with or thrown around by our little one. Not ever. So why the buttons just stopped working makes absolutely no sense to me! Broke my heart.We absolutely love our Lulla Bear, both us & baby!! And it was a lifesaver!! I love the cry sensor, so he comes back on throughout the night! We have a 10 month old, who just started sleeping through the night.. and I truly believe it's because of this bear! We even love this bear so much.. that after purchasing the first one and 2 of his buttons breaking, we bought a second. and contacted Alex and Kate about the issues we were having. their customer support was quick and took care of our concerns. They immediately offered to send us a replacement but once they noticed we had already purchased a second, They then offered to simply refund our money. so I love this company all the way around! Lulla Bear is the modern successor to the battery-powered heart-beat teddy bear which I bought for my new born son back in the 1980s. At that time, the idea of using digital technology to synthesize the pulsating woosh of a mother's heart-beat was innovative and novel.My son is now about to become a first-time dad. I know that the soothing and familiar sounds will provide of zone of comfort and familiarity for his newborn. In a softly-lit or darkened room, the sound provides a sense of place and of safety.Lulla Bear is a cuddly and soft bear with an amusing face and funny yellow "earphones." Lulla Bear looks and feels well-loved right out of the box.(From my experience, it was important to introduce this sound almost immediately. Friends who waited a few weeks before giving their baby a heart-beat bear found that it was less successful.)As far as the technology is concerned, we've come a long way in forty years. Lulla Bear offers a number of modes of operation (white noise, surf, intrauterine heart-beat, and two traditional music box lullaby melodies.) These features are controlled by squeezing the bear's paws. There is an internal timer which can silence the bear after a period of time and a "cry sensor" which can be set to re-activate the sound if it detects the baby crying.Note that Lulla Bear's heart-beat sound -- which I consider most important -- is similar to that inside the womb. It's the soft sound of circulating fluid dampening the reassuring rhythm of the mother's pulse. (It is definitely NOT the thud-thud-thud of a heart-beat used for the soundtrack of a horror movie!)Lulla Bear runs on three AA batteries. I did not have the chance to use the bear to see how long the batteries last. (I purchased some rechargeable ones and a charger to give my son with the bear.) The batteries are inserted into an enclosed battery holder which is accessed via a strong Velcro closure on the back of the bear.Based upon our experience, we found that heart-beat bear was indispensable for traveling. It made a strange hotel or relatives' guest room seem like home.For your own newborn or as a gift, Lulla Bear is an excellent choice.

I bought this bear to help my 1 year old sleep at night. We have the baby Einstein which he likes but he was waking up at night and playing with the buttons so I decided to try this. It works great! He loves the different sound options and he like how soft the bear is. I like that the bear can hang from the crib.I am currently waiting for a replacement bear because the cry sensor doesn't work and it was one of the key reasons I got it. I like the idea of it playing automatically. Otherwise, I can't recommend this bear enough its a little ugly but knocks my guy out

This bear is a life saver! The womb sound put baby to sleep instantly. Only sad thing is after constant use for 3 months it stopped working but it is so good that I will probably buy 10 more if I have to!

I bought this in the hopes that it would help me with my baby. Since he was born it was a bit difficult to put him down to sleep or keep him asleep. All he would want was to be in my arms . I need a break and had tried everything. Bought so many swings and pacifiers hoping something would help. When I came upon this I was a bit hesitant because I thought how much is this really going to help being he had something like this already, but went for it anyway. I must mention that i discovered that he did like the sound of the blower dryer and the exhaust fan on the stove lol. That actual would put him to sleep. When I received the bear it was well packaged. It also came with batteries and a little tiny screw to use to install the batteries. I was very pleased to find out that the white noise from the bear has a similar sound to the fan! That alone gave me high hopes. You can adjust the volume and also play lullaby music. The first time using it didn’t put him right to sleep obviously lol but I didn’t give up. We hadn’t used the white noise with him as a newborn as suggested you should so they could get accustomed to it. After a few tries putting him to sleep with the bear I can actually say this works for my baby! Now mind you it may not work 100% of the time, because let’s face it what baby would be that great but it definitely worked for me. I’m super happy I went with this purchase even though I wasn’t a crazy about the price of the bear. I was at my wits end and need a break. This definitely worked for my baby and me. I would definitely recommend it to a friend for sure even if it is just to try. Received exactly what was advertised ( the bear is not super soft if you’re looking for a squishy cuddly bear for your child, but it’s not hard like every other white sound you stuffed animal I’ve purchased).
