Macross Plus Complete Blu-ray Box [Japanese Import]

There were a few things I didn't like about the Blu Ray. But I am still giving it 5 stars. On the English dubbed version it's exactly how I remember it. Until you get to chapter 4. Isamu and Goulds voices are dubbed by different voice actors from the original dvd version. I don't know why they did this. It is one of the best English dubbed anime ever made. No loss of story from the Japanese subtitle version. Which is a big deal. They also changed a couple of lines while using the new people. Major dislike. Most people wouldn't notice it. But I sure did. Also. On the English dubbed version. If you put it on subtitles. It has Japanese lettering. A couple of my friends are deaf. So that's annoying.What I did like. The packaging is amazing. I love the high quality box it comes in. It comes with a small book that includes artist sketches of characters and mechs. Very cool. The Blu Ray case is nice. And the movie plays brilliantly on a flat screen and high powered speaker system which I have. My friends who don't even like anime were blown away by the animation quality, music and story. The ending is tragic to say the least. Almost like a Greek tragedy.For me the price was affordable. Even if steep at around $280. This movie is very near and dear to my heart. Reminds me of high school and friends at the time. If you are a fan of this series. It is a must buy.

The blu-ray transfer is excellent. The redub for episode 4 is actually an overall improvement from the previous "international" release. The extras made it all worth it!

Awesome

The Macross Plus Blu-Ray set is totally awesome! I bought it when I was in Japan this summer and watched it already. I couldn't believe how amazing the picture and sound quality are. It's Region A, so it'll play in America. Also, the Movie version that's included in the set includes English subtitles! That's a PLUS for anyone thinking about buying it that hasn't already seen it. You can finally give away those old dvd copies from so many years ago. It's time to update your anime collection!

Image is like any other, but Blu-ray appears to use its restoration, albeit in a bigger space. Dub's highly overrated however, and completely average at best; Brian Cranston is fine, but his voice doesn't match the character's personality. I.e. Dad playing jock. That Slipcase though... if you already own the remaster like me and are on the fence, whether or not you decide to buy depends on how much you value aforementioned box as a collectable.

ブルーレイ化されていたのを知らなかったので思わず買ってしまいました。

今回、届くのを楽しみに待っていました。まさかの発売日より１日前に到着。ちょうど休みだったので、早速視聴しました。私は「超時空要塞マクロス ‾愛・おぼえていますか‾」のブルーレイも所持していて、画質の不安定さは認識しています。◎画質（PS3での再生、ディスプレイはREGZA　37Z1とSONY HMZ-T2）　今回の「マクロスプラス」は、安定した画質で視聴できました。若干、ボケているシーンも見受けられましたが、逆に驚くほど綺麗なシーンも多いため、そのギャップかもしれませんし、もともとの作画のクオリティの差であったり、意図的なものなのかもしれません。正直、不満は感じません。DVDよりも遥かに高画質です。　また、OVA版、劇場版で色調を含めた画質が異なっています。OVA版は、ノイズが抑えられ、明るめの発色で光沢感？のある絵作り。一方、劇場版は赤がきつくならないように調整をしつつ、フィルムらしい色表現を目指した、落ち着いた絵作り。劇場版の色調表現に関しては、雑誌「HiVi」に載っていた総監督　河森正治氏のインタビューに記載されていた情報ですので確かです。（OVA版に関しては記載がないため、視聴した主観です。）　このクオリティで満足出来ないのだとすると、もうリマスター作品は諦めたほうがいいかもしれません。　※余談ですが、テレビ放送「マクロス超時空ゼミナール」番組中で、「マクロスプラス」のダイジェスト放送？がされたのを見たときに、妙な編集がされていました。ドッグファイトのシーンがスロー再生のようになっていて、ブルーレイ版に影響があるかも…とも思いましたが杞憂でした。◎音質（AVアンプSONY　STR-DN2030、スピーカー　DALI　ZENSOR1×4＆ZENSOR VOKAL）　　5.1ch化した恩恵は確実にあります。もちろん、ブルーレイになって、無圧縮、ロスレス音声になった事も関係していますが、音の広がり、密度感、微細な空間表現がDVDとは明らかに異なっています。シャロンの歌が流れる時の包囲感、ドッグファイト時の轟音の迫力がまるで違います。　「歌」が重要なマクロス作品ですので、音質向上は非常に価値があると思います。　サラウンドに関しても、雑誌「HiVi」で触れられており、しっかりと作りこまれているのを実感できます。　また、今回は表現の問題も特に無さそうで、変に声が小さいとかもないです。◎パッケージ　非常にコンパクトです。Blu-ray BOXという響きから想像すると、面食らう感じです。ボックスの造りはしっかりしています。パッケージデザインはBOX、インナージャケット両方とも、格好良いです。ブックレットはは読みごたえがあります。◎最後に　フィルムの保存状態が良かったようで、安心しました。ただし、あくまで主観ですので、他の方のレビューも待たれた方が、迷っているなら賢明だと思います。好きな作品が、画質などで叩かれてしまうのは悲しいので。　作画クオリティ、CGの使い方の匠さが注目されがちな本作ですが、いま観ても色あせない「未来感」は大きな魅力だと思います。製作当時は、現実味がなかったシャロンのようなバーチャルアイドルも、現代だからこそ現実味があり、より恐ろしく感じました。　長文になってしまいましたが、購入の後押しになれば、嬉しいです。
