Defender Body Fat Caliper

Worked as expected. Pretty accurate. Held up after multiple drops.

I purchased this caliper because I have been on a weight loss and dieting program, and got tired of trying to guess what my BMI was. Those bmi calculators are generic and don't give the most accurate readings and I didn't want to take a chance on a digital one since those tend to be off sometimes (though not by much). I found out that my BMI is actually 2% lower than I originally guessed, and I am quite pleased with knowing this. I took the reading 3 different times to be sure because I couldn't believe it. But I am happy because it means that whatever I have been doing has been working and it encourages me to continue on that path. If you are serious about your fitness and want to track your progress, this caliper will get the job done. Yeah, a scale will tell you how much you weigh, but a caliper will tell you how much of that weight is body fat. I am pleased with this product.

This piece of crap arrived broken. I was so disappointed because I really wanted this to work. It's nothing but a plastic piece of garbage. Reminds me of one of those AS SEEN ON TV products. They make it looks so great on TV but when you finally get it, it's nothing but cheap plastic.I WOULD NOT recommend this product.

I am not overly impressed with this product. I have used the Skyndex I in the past and feel the Skyndex is more accurate.

I purchased this caliper because it looked like it was a little sturdier than other brands (of which I have snapped several). I gave this three stars because it is a well built product, nothing flimsy about it. I am also pleased with the arrow feature that marks the exact reading until you reset it. This makes it easy to double check the measurement. However, I did not rate it any higher because I think it is a little misleading. The caliper comes with directions to take your own body fat reading (a three step method). However, in order to see the pressure indicator when taking the measurement yourself, you have to take the measurements in a different manor than you typically should. I have ten years of experience in the weight loss industry and have taken lots of measurements and I wouldn't recommend using the method that comes with the caliper. I would suggest inquiring with a specialist about a 7 point method and the correct way to take measurements. This will give you much more accurate results.

This is a good caliper and comes with a chart and a window that shows green when you have applied enough pressure. The only thing I didn't like is this window for the visual pressure indicator is hard to see the way the caliper is angled when measuring.

This is the most thorough and user-friendly caliper in its price range. There are two main reasons why:#1) There is a helpful pressure indicator on the top arm which shows you when to stop pinching, ensuring more accurate, reliable and consistent measurements.#2) The BIGGEST plus of this caliper is the measurement gauge system that it has. When the pinch is taken and the arms are released, a gauge will stop at the right measurement. Basically, what this means is you can just do the pinch and then hold up the caliper to see where the gauge went. You don't have to try and hold the pinch and try to read the gauge at the same time, which can be a pain when measuring yourself.
