Works pretty well. I was able to use it to successfully mount a seat on an 18.5" bench seat in my aluminum boat. To accomplish that, I switched the wing-nuts and lock washers for hex Nyloc nuts. I also mounted a couple of well-sealed 1" x 2" strips under the seat edges to give the clamp a better grip (my seat has recessed sides). Several people complained about difficulty tightening the wing nuts. I had no problems at all tightening the Nyloc nuts with a deep-socket ratchet. The seat has to be mounted BEFORE you put the clamp on the boat... otherwise there is no way to reach the machine screws that go into the boat seat. Once mounted, the seat seems to be very stable, which is saying something since I weight 270 pounds, That is a lot of lateral pressure when I lean to the side or back! Since it appears to be powder coated steel, I don't know how well the clamp hardware would hold up in brackish or salt water. That won't be a problem for me since I expect to use it only in fresh water. Consider the material if you will be using around salt water. Overall, I'm very happy with the clamp. I was able to use it on my extra wide boat bench and I have a very stable mount without drilling into the boat.

Top notch. I was not expecting this level of quality on a mount that I got for under $20. I'm guessing the aluminum boat seat you attach this to would give out before this mount does. The rotation is build by some low friction plastic slide component instead of more traditional ball bearing. It seems like it will be reliable but that is only difference I see between this design and the 30 year old part I was replacing. Happy with the product. Will update if lake trials change that opinion.

I have a aluminum seats with no lip on them and the bracket would slip and become unstable. I mounted a small aluminum cleat on both sides of the seat to hold the bracket from slipping. You have to drilled two small holes on each side of the seat but for my application it works great.

As long as you do not think of this as a way to permanently mount a seat to your boat, its pretty good. I have this mounted to a plastic 12ft jonboat and it works good enough for my purposes, but I need to be careful not to lean back in the seat because it will come off. Tightening this thing is a real pain in the ass even when using pliers or channel locks. The way that works best for me is to just tighten the wingnuts with the mount off of the boat and then slide it on to the bench seat as tight as you can get it to go on. I find that if I try and tighten it any more after that point, the mount starts to work its way upward and off of the bench seat. Putting the seat itself on the mount was also a real pain. The easiest way to do that is to take the two rods (the part that clamps on to the bench seat on the boat) off so that you have room to tighten the 4 bolts and screws. I also put gorilla glue on all the screws because I do not want to have to take the whole thing apart and put it back together again if something loosens up. I get my boat to the water by putting it on top of my jeep, and I would not be able to do that with a permanent swivel seat. I just keep the seat and mount in my jeep during the trip to the water and slide it on the bench seat when I get there. Like I said , it's good enough for my purposes, I just hope that I don't forget about it not being tight and end up in the water..

Attwood Corporation Seat Mount Clamp-On With Swivel I absolutely love this Attwood Clamp-On Seat Mount. I used it on my 14 ft aluminum jon boat. I can easily tighten this seat mount using the wing nuts that are provided (without using the plier to tighten it). I have used this seat a couple times on the water so far, the seat can be easily removed and reposition. I like the fact that I can reposition it whenever I want to especially when I am driving the boat from the back seat (I don't like how the middle seat is right in the middle blocking my view). The seat can swivel pretty well, I weight 165lbs and I never once feel I will fall out of the seat while using it. I was skeptical about this product at first because I see a lot of comments here regarding how dangerous it can be if you don't use your own tools to tighten it. Apparently, that is not the case for me.
