Great alarm clock
I have had several digital travel alarm clocks over the years, but this one is far and away the best of them all. Time will tell if it holds up well, but after a week I see no diminution in quality.Pros:1. Has a very appealing, warm golden backlit LED (as pictured) which can be turned off or left on; I have left mine on, during the day when there is ambient light the golden backlit disappears, and returns when it is dark. By depressing a top-mounted button, the LED becomes bright for night time use;2. The digits are very large and easy to read;3. All of the main information you need is readily viewable. Personally I am not interested in the temperature measurement readout, but others will undoubtedly like it (I would rather have the date always visible; as it is, you can see either the date or the time at which the alarm clock is set, but not both at the same time);4. Setup is pretty easy, and the atomic feature works like a charm; when you receive the item, do not set the time but wait until the evening when the time and date will automatically be set. I forgot to enter the Time Zone, but that is an easy procedure and then you're all set;5. The important alarm set on/off switch is easily accessible on the front panel of the clock (as shown), instead of the back or the top, as in other clocks;6. It's hard to tell after the initial usage how long the batteries will last, but I installed 2 Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries which ought to last a long time (I expect 6 mos. to 1 year, judging from other similar clocks I've had).7. On the table, the clock is stable and requires no kick-out stand, the way most similar clocks do.8. Reasonably priced for an Atomic Clock device.Cons:1. Instructions are a little bit awkward, but no big deal. Conclusion:This is a thoughtfully and very pleasantly designed clock from which I hope to get many years of use.

3 Year Review - Small, durable, accurate..... WAKE UP!!!!
I was looking for a good little travel alarm clock, having a large display and the atomic feature appealed to me. This clock has traveled with me for over a year now and it's still running on the original batteries. The alarm is sufficient to wake me up but short enough to allow me to ignore it at times. The snooze bar extends my sloth behavior by 5 minutes with each tap.The display is more than ample for my not-so-great eyesight and the back-light provides gentle illumination when needed. The temperature display is also a nice touch and gives me cause to sleep better knowing the place isn't too hot or too cold! This clock gets moved to my nightstand when I'm at home and rarely gets a signal from NIST when I'm there so doing a manual setting is my best bet. I would prefer a longer alarm, sometimes 5 minutes is just long enough to ignore and fall back to sleep. (but maybe that's just me) Overall I'm happy with my little Hito alarm clock. If I found myself seeking another travel clock this model would be on the top of the list.FOLLOW UP: My HITO alarm clock has been with me since 2017 and has worked flawlessly. My original concerns about the NIST signal were all for nothing. I haven't found a need to manually set this clock since I wrote the original review, it sets itself just fine. One concern that some buyers have expressed is whether the display is illuminated at night. There is a switch in the battery compartment to turn on the backlight. It glows at a low level but well enough to check the time and the temperature. I typically get a year out of the batteries before it goes dead. I'm totally sold on this clock and considering an additional purchase in case I forget mine on the road. Buy with confidence!

Good product. READ the SWITCHES and the instructions.
I only just received this. I cannot speak to longevity or durability. But, at first glance, it looks good.I'll eat some embarrassing crow so y'all don't have to. The switches on this product work differently that you might expect. NOTE they are ON = LEFT and OFF = RIGHT. Once I actually turned the light switch ON, or LEFT, I was able to see the dim auto night light working in a dark room.I'm in the Eastern USA, so we'll have to see if the auto set radio feature works out here. The signals comes from Boulder Colorado, and it's very hit or miss this far East. That's not the clock's fault. But, at least it's trying to get a signal. NOTE, RCC button that's supposed to start the radio signal search is a bit wiggly and hard to press. I press it with the ball of my finger. If you can't tell if you're pressing it, just press and release and see if the temperature indicator changes from Fahrenheit to Celsius. If that works, press and hold the button in the same way for about 3 seconds to start the radio search. You can turn on a brighter light for a few seconds by pressing the snooze / light button. I don't believe that you can turn off the radio receiver on this clock. But, if you're out of range of the Boulder Colorado signal, you should be able to set the clock manually. So, once I turned the features on, rather than just thinking they were on, it appears to work. The alarm on / off switch is the same way. ON = LEFT.If you leave the clock in a dim room, perhaps with the blinds closed on the windows, and you're using the auto night light, the light will come on. That will drain the batteries faster. This might also apply if you have the clock in your luggage. You might have to turn off (IE switch RIGHT) the auto night light while traveling and turn it back on at the destination. This clock does not allow turning off the auto set radio receiver, turning off auto DST (Daylight Saving Time), or offsetting the clock from the time zone you set. For example of the latter, say you set the Pacific time zone but you're in Hawaii. If the clock is receiving the Boulder Colorado signal (don't know if that's feasible), it will keep setting to Pacific. As a side note, the Marathon Atomic Travel Clock CL030036 does allow changing those things. One other minor thing. The display works best when you're eyes are a bit above the clock. If you are lying down with your head below the level of the clock, you may not see the numbers as well or at all if you're too low.Overall, I like the clock and its features and am looking forward to using it. The numbers are big and easy to read.Ron

DO NOT BUY IN EUROPE
The model supplied updates its time from a Colorado signal that does not appear to be received in the UK. So this is just a clock, not a clock set by atomic time signal. However, what makes this product totally useless in Europe is it is configured only for the American market. Some of the pictures on this site have a clock with the American time zones in the top right hand corner and some do not. The clock that was delivered to a UK address was an American model with American time zones. There appears to be no way to reset this to European time zones. Despite asking on this site three times if the clock can be reset, no response Form the seller. In short DON”T BUY IN EUROPE. This is going back
