The Clinical Practice of Equine-Assisted Therapy: Including Horses in Human Healthcare

Most Comprehensive Book on Equine-assisted Therapies
I believe that this is one of the best books on equine-assisted therapy. The author comprehensively covers the following topics per chapter in "The Clinical Practice of Equine-assisted Therapy: Including Horses in Human Healthcare": the history of equine-assisted therapy, the different forms of equine-assisted therapy, competencies in equine-assisted therapy, the client populations reserving equine-assisted therapy, the practice of equine-assisted therapy; business aspects, and ethics. From an academic viewpoint I find the research information on this form of therapy very useful. The author objectively shares research findings regarding the effectiveness of equine-assisted therapies. She also highlights the lack of high quality research in this field. Furthermore, the author points out that there is a lack of explanatory research regarding equine-assisted therapies. To my opinion the information on the EAGALA model of equine-assisted psychotherapy, Transforming Therapy through Horses: Case Stories Teaching the EAGALA Model in Action , is a bit outdated as it seems as if EAGALA moved away from their focus on equine-activities. Otherwise, I totally agree with the author regarding her viewpoints on EAGALA.This book, as well as The Equine-Assisted Therapy Workbook: A Learning Guide for Professionals and Students , must be in the personal libraries of all equine-assisted therapy professionals.

Disappointing
I was looking for a book about using horses in psychotherapy, but this book includes other kinds of therapy, and for that reason it's too broad in its content. Also, the price is too high, considering the amount of info. It has to offer. Not a great value; I was disappointed.

Great resource
I am currently getting my BT in Theraputic Horsemanship. I got this book as a source for a research paper as well as for general extra reading/knowledge. Its well laid out and informative. All sources are documented beautifully. Great look at the clincial aspects of hippo/equine therapy work

Another wonderful accomplishment by a thoughtful and respected author in the field
Leif Hallberg’s new book and accompanying workbook are beautiful and timely gifts to the field of Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies, and perfect for providers and students alike as the industry continues to move into the forefront of the American public eye. In a world with ever increasing demands of ethical, empirically based interventions, providers in this field continue to struggle to find comprehensive information and education regarding the complexities of EAAT. Ms. Hallberg continues to be on the forefront of such practices both in the U.S. and internationally, and her newest set of books provides a comprehensive yet manageable look into what equine-assisted therapy is, as well as what it isn’t. Able to push the boundaries of the industry and lead the way in ensuring that equine assisted therapy remains an ethical and respected industry (while also demonstrating a respect for horses and clients alike), The Clinical Practice of Equine-Assisted Therapy: Including Horses in Human Healthcare is an accomplishment the entire field of Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies can be proud of.

The Go-To textbook for EFL/P
I wish I had this book when starting out in Equine Facilitated Learning years ago! It is the definitive authority on this field, and has been rigorously researched and referenced by the author, a highly respected equine therapy professional. Furthermore, this book is sensibly laid out and well-written. The associated workbook is also highly recommended.

References?
There are pages and pages, appears like whole paragraphs are just written from other books. Not what I was expecting at all.
