Eyeglass Frame Grips--Hinge Tighteners (pack of 10)

These tighteners really do work, but a caveat here. They are extemely hard to get on if you have Rayban's like I do. I have a new pair of Rayban Wayfarer prescription sunglasses. If it weren't for the review of "Brother in Christ" I would have given up and used rubber bands. The secret here is: soak them in hot water first for at least 10 minutes. Don't boil the water, but get it as hot as you can from the faucet and put it in a small bowl and cover it. Wait about 10 minutes and you will be surprised at how malleable they be. I had to coax them over the fat part of the Wayfarer stem, but once I got them past that, they sailed right onto the hinge. When you are placing them, hold the stem away from your body and coax the tightener along the stem. You will need a degree of patience in addition to the hot water, but believe me, if I could them onto the hinge, you can too. Another caveat, you will probably need to put 2 on each side. I had to because the Wayfarer's are a bit loose. But 2 on each side did the trick. The other good thing is that they are hard and not likely to soften and go weak on you any time soon. So far, I've not had any problems with my glasses sliding down my nose. They stay right in place and give me good protection from the sun. I highly recommend them but don't forget the hot water!

The rubber rings are too skinny (should be triple this thickness) and the hole too big, even on my wide frame sunglasses they just hang on the hinge. I’ve put five on each side hoping that would add up to enough thickness, but it doesn’t. They won’t work on any glasses frame, I tried on thin frame and on wire frame and on thick frame. I’ve used this kind of hinge tightener before, but not from this vendor, and they’ve always worked before. SERIOUSLY, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I read the reviews, I just tried them anyway. They’re just little o rings, and the seller didn’t even bother to try them on glasses, just bought ‘em and put them in a bag. To be honest, given the reviews, they must be deliberately trying to deceive the customer, because the correct size would be simple to get. If I could go out and shop I would find the right kind of o rings in a hardware store, but right now I can’t.

These tiny lil o rings have saved my glasses! My glasses were always falling off my face. I fall asleep with my glasses on every night and even sleep through many nights with them on. The arm on my glasses is to short so I can't adjust them right. If I bend the arm so they stay on, the feel like they are suctioned to my face. I was looking for a sports band so I could keep them on my face when I came across these. What a simple, ingenious fix. I had read about people having a difficult time getting them on. I was going to put them in hot water like another reviewer suggested but decided to try to get them on first. My frames are pretty wide near the screws but I was able to just work it over. I also have a fairly wide head and then when I sleep in them, it stretches them more. Putting a band on each side made them nearly perfect. I think I'm going to try 1 more band just on 1 side and that should make it perfect. When my mom saw the bands, she was jealous and wanted to know where she could get them. They come with 5 pair, so I was able to share. You can see the bands when your glasses are off but when wearing them, no one can see them.

These hinge tighteners will do the trick for most glasses, but not for mine. I wear P3 wire-rim glasses, and the hinge -- which is about 4mm H x 3mm W -- is too small for these rubber bands. They are completely loose and simply slide around such that they do not stay in the position where the temple piece "pinches against" the end piece of the rim. But that is not the fault of the product. I suppose it is a downside of wearing wire-rim glasses. But the 4-star rather than 5-star rating was given because there is no choice other than black when it should be possible to make them in a more neutral color or translucent.

These EYEGLASS FRAME GRIPS (HINGE TIGHTENERS) really work to tighten up eyeglasses that want to slip down your nose. They work much better than the bits of facial tissue that I was using before, because they stay on when the eyeglasses are folded up and placed in a case. Professional eyeglasses adjusters hate these, because they can cause your frames to bend and distort their shape. However, they're good as a temporary solution, until you can get in to have your frames properly adjusted. If you regularly use more than one pair of eyeglasses--for example, regular bifocals (distance and close) and computer bifocals (near distance and close)--these little rings are handy for marking one pair so that you can feel which pair you're wearing. You just slip a ring over an earpiece of one pair (without moving the ring into the hinge area), and you can always identify which pair you have on by feel. You won't have to take your glasses off to look at the frames. My hinge rings, sold by Rock Ridge Sales, arrived in a little plastic bag that was NOT attached to a retail card (as shown in the product page photo). However, if you already know how to use these, not receiving the card means one less thing to recycle.

These were WAY too big for my glasses, and I can't even imagine a pair of eyeglasses where these wouldn't be too big.

There are AMAZING!!! I had a previous pair of Ray-Bans that the plastic kept stretching out too, sliding down my face, and wish I knew about these years ago! I've only had these glasses for a couple months, only wear them at nighttime (since I wear my contacts during the day), and had to have these adjusted like 4 times already because the plastic keeps stretching back out. These were so loose they kept sliding down my nose even at the slighted head tilt, but I only needed 1 band on each hinge (pictures attached) and they fit PERFECTLY now! My frames aren't super thick either (the arms are only about 1/2 " wide) and the band slid right up into the hinge! I didn't soak the bands in hot water either, as a previous reviewer recommended, and they still slid right on w/o any issues. Depending how large and loose your frames are, perhaps you'll need more than 1 band on each hinge, but for mine 1 was enough. I'd try wear them for a couple hours with 1 hinge before loading several bands on because they'll stretch out a bit. These are the best thing ever and super reasonably priced! We'll see how many months I can get before having to replace the bands, but either way, for the price and quantity you get it's a much better deal then taking the time out of your day to have your glasses adjusted all the tim. Plus, that can wear our your frames faster (my last pair of Ray-Bans started cracking on 1 hinge because they were being adjusted to many times). Overall, these are incredible and I would 100% recommend! I'll be buying more when I run out.

Update: if you're looking for a product like this that actually works. Walmart has a little kit with 2 of these in it. It's near the reader glasses! They're small in size and stretchy... They actually do what these are intended to do and the whole kit with a screw driver and screws too is only $1.98. Photo included. Absolutely nothing like the ones people are picturing with this listing. I had to cut these giant rubber things and fanagle them around the sides of the frame. The concept is great and works well, but these pieces I received are huge and would look terrible if I left them on the frame.
