Why is there sodium benzoate in this product? Sodium benzoate is a known carcinogenic additive.

Hello Ursula,As explained to you on the phone, the sodium benzoate in this product is less than 1% of the formulation. However, because we practice 100% ingredient disclosure we included it on the label (NOTE: less than 1% is not required to be listed by law). Sodium benzoate is a FOOD grade preservative, meaning it is meant to be ingested. According to the EPA ingesting high amounts can classify sodium benzoate as a carcinogen, but is determined safe for use in cosmetics when used is minute amounts.

What is the shelf life of this liquid?

I noticed a date of 09/15 on bottom of the bottle I'm currently using. That is approx 18 months since purchase. Also it contains food grade preservatives potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate.

Hello, It is normal to have some sediment particles in the bottle, it will not always be present, but near the end of the batch it can happen. It happens when there is undissolved saponin in the tank that was too small to be filtered out. It is harmless, and actually increases the concentration of saponin.
