Is the Almond an off white? Picture online looks more beige than ivory/off white.

The best I can say is that the product when dry seems to match the photo you see online - more toward a creamy warm almond than a cool beige color. It saved my counter top and I am happy with the product.

Is the solvent really necessary? It's pretty expensive.

I just used a little laquer thinner. It’s mostly used to just clean the area for the seam fil.

My countertop looks offwhite but there is no offwhite option. White may be too light so would almond be the best choice?

Would be your only option. There will be a color difference

Will this work on a seam between two melanine floating shelves? Will it fill it to erase the seam and make it look like one board?

It will always help, but you’ll still see a seam and if there’s ANY movement at all of either or both shelves, the seam will always show. It’s always worth a try, especially at these prices.
