Great product
Very easy to install if you have the correct windows to run it properly, the drivers if they don’t install you have to look them up in the folder the program was installed in the computer and look for the folder to manually install the drivers. Besides that the ews connector, you might need to hold it down to read the chip. Besides it worked and fixed the problems I was having so thanks.

Wont read EWS Unit, only reads keys
Aparently the "new" style AK90 is no good. Software installed, connects to the AK90 programmer, reads keys. As soon as you try and read the EWS unit my PC will disconnect the USB port and the program will be stuck on the reading EWS unit page. EWS chip was properly cleaned and the continuity on the harness was checked but no good. Need to find an old style with the speaker that beeps.

It works
It works as intended. I wouldn’t say this is a tool for everyone, especially if you’ve never needed with key programming. But if you have the patience and will to learn than it’s a good little tool to have.

Not for the faint of heart.
Product is fine, but know that you are basically hacking into a car's immobilizer, downloading the security (BIN) file, and then writing it to a new key. YMMV, but we were only successful by doing a LOT of research, and trying many different tactics. Don't even think of doing this if you aren't patient. These comments pertain to a BMW E46 series. Luckily there are tons of YouTube videos to guide you. Unfortunately they are often at odds with each other so you get to sort the wheat from the chaff. For starters, getting the immobilizer out from under the dash is a yoga exercise. It's way the heck up under there. Software loading wasn't too bad, typical Windows challenges. However beware of the socket that fits onto the ICU. The dot that is supposed to indicate alignment with the ICU was incorrect! This is an example of having to do research...I found complaints about this in several posts, then I found a wiring schematic for the socket, and using that was able to find the right alignment. Still with me? Then it turned out I had to modify the standoffs in the socket, because they were not allowing the socket to fit tightly enough. That was plastic scraping with an X-Acto blade. OK, now we got the BIN file downloaded into the program finally. Next challenge is the key we bought on Amazon wouldn't read or write. Turned out that the tiny transponder chip in the key was junk. Figured that out only after more research. Ordered a new chip. You'll want the one that ends in 35. FINALLY got the BIN file written onto the transponder...in our case it would only write once it was IN the key fob. Be careful opening the key fob if you have to, they are fragile inside. But I will say it was really, really sweet when I put the key in the ignition and the car started. Wow. So, I think you get the picture. If you are still reading this, maybe you have a shot at making this work. If you aren't patient, good with tools and tech,...fuhgedabowdit. Good luck!

Does work well.
Did key inspection and was able to query ews

Don’t use the supplied USB cable!
Give it 3 stars because it didn’t do everything it’s supposed to do… Software downloaded, everything connected fine, reads a key fine, but connecting it to the EWS it either said ‘pin no contact’ or made the Windows connect/disconnect sound. I ended up returning this one and getting another one, but discovered the problem actually is the USB cable which comes with it. The rectangular thing in the USB cable is called a ‘ferrite core,’ and cables with that part cause issues connecting to and reading the EWS. I found a different USB cable with the correct ends and no ferrite core, and it worked fine.

Software CD unreadable but...
The CD-R included with the tool is unreadable. I did test the CD-R on multiple systems (two MacOS, three PCs). No software to operate it makes the AK90+ useless. I suppose it would have made a nice paperweight but persistence eventually paid off.I am rating this product at two stars because it was far from plug & use. I was eventually able to find the software online (never did get a response from the seller). With a bit of tweaking the software was installed and run on Windows 10 under Windows 7 compatibility mode. The socket provided for EWS3 MCUs is really intended to be a mounting socket. To make proper contact with the pins on the MCU chip I had to remove the height index posts from inside the socket (see photo). This allowed the socket contacts to reach the pins. The socket was not marked to provide alignment to the chip. I used the angled corner of the socket and the corresponding angled corner on the chip for alignment.Once all of that was sorted it finally worked. I did read the EWS and in turn was able to write to the new key.It was a bit of a hassle but considering that it took a few hours to sort out and bring my car back to life while in a small rural town with no repair services made the effort worthwhile.

Saved me more than $200
I bought this key programer since I only received 1 key when I purchased my BMW I ordered the replacement keys from e-Bay and and had them cut for $25 each. After following the YouTub video's I was able to successfully install the software, pull my control unit and code 3 keys. The process not for everyone, but it is not difficult and will save you hundreds of dollars vs taking it to a dealer or key shop. Well work the time i spent and the money of this excellent product

Producto inservible

Works without issues but no instructions included
I was able to install the software that came with the programmer on my laptop that has Windows XP on it. I've read some reviews on the AK90+ where there were problems with the software not installing properly or with the programmer not working. I couldn't find anything that states the version of Windows needed for this but like most software for the BMW's, I assumed XP was the best fit. This comes with no instructions. I had to watch 2 different videos on YouTube but was able to get everything installed, get it going and program a key in a matter of minutes after doing that.

Software won’t run
Figured using the software would be straight foreword, it was made to run on windows 7, but I’ve seen people using it on other windows, problem is, the disk won’t even read, when I did get it to, the setup exe won’t even open, even when using comparability mode, and trying out different settings, did not work

Works perfectly! Did what it says it will do
If you aren’t technically inclined, as well as computer savvy, save your time and money and find someone to program your keys for you... if you have a good understanding of vehicles and immobilizers, this will do EXACTLY what you are trying to do when reading and writing BMW EWS 3 and 4 keys. I am a dealer technician (not BMW), so I know my way around programming, and this worked first time to add two new keys to a 2004 cabrio. YouTube video available online shows how to do it, and the guy who posted that video needs a BIG shout out for making it easy to follow and talking about the things to be mindful of when doing it.I own my own “laser” key cutter, but if you don’t, that is the really expensive (and hard) part of making these keys...

Knock off *DO NOT BUY*
Will not read EWS, usb malfunctions when connector attaches to pin correctly, and machiine also does not beep. What i recieved is an exact copy of well known fakes. DO NOT BUYEdit - decided to buy another due to potentially getting a bad unit, the second unit does not work either. I do not have the no pin touch error, my driver disconnects when pushing the connector onto the chip. Don’t make the same mistake as I did. Order from a different brand and try your luck with them.
