Glad SimplyCooking Microwave Steaming Bags

Love these bags because I can use fresh vegetables for salads, casseroles, etc. The vegetables remain crisper and crunchier when microwaved compared to frozen vegetables packed in plastic bags that can also be microwaved. I hope these bags will remain available even though there is quite stiff competition with the frozen vegetable products. In general, these bags offer the opportunity to use a wide variety of fresh vegetables including vegetables not available in the frozen food section of stores. Since I like to use organic vegetables, I have more options using these bags. Additionally these bags also make it easier and quicker to serve fresh vegetables over frozen vegetables for each, every, and any meal. Finally, when I first used the bags, even though the directions stated the bags were reusable, I did not trust the information. However, after using a couple of bags, I decided to try reusing. It works just fine to reuse several times which I do.

Although they're expensive to use, you'll get fantastic results when you steam veggies in these bags. I always knock off a few seconds when it comes to their suggested time table because I don't want overcooked or soggy food. We've actually reused them more than once, and they can be recycled, keeping them out of landfills.

I bought some of these back when they were being sold in Walmart and target. Now that I learned that they were discontinued, I frantically looked to where I could get some more!! Very convenient for when I don't have time to boil a huge pot of water for a small amount of corn. I even cooked fish in here and it came out flaky and delicious. Saves time and money.5 out of 5

I've discovered this type of bag is great for veggies. No clean-up. Veggies are steamed without added water so they retain more flavor than when cooked in a saucepan boiled or steamed. Also frees up stove top space. Easy to time getting everything properly cooked and hot when it gets to the table. No more soggy or luke warm veggies because the meat wasn't done. I gave these 4 stars however because the Ziplock brand steamer bags are better. I prefer the shape and clearer cooking time directions on the Ziplocs. I would give the Ziplock brand bags 5 stars. These are worth trying but if you have a choice try the zips instead.

Really too bad these large & sturdy steaming bags are no longer available!! I like them better than other brands because of the way the bottom accordions out & helps stand the bag up - handy for filling the bags with things like green beans or any vegetable where you may need two hands to grab & hold what you're going to steam, and don't have another hand to hold the steaming bag open. Also appreciate the larger capacity - we're a family of 6 and the smaller bags don't hold enough - could use 2, but there goes the price savings!

These bags came terribly musty smelling, I couldn't use them.

Mostly steaming vegs in the microwave.
