Style Has Changed Recently, and It's a Mixed Bag
PROS: Even though the shoes have become narrower in this new style, they still fit my wide feet. They also have much better arch support (I have high arches) than they used to.CONS: The lacing system has changed. Now there are some kind of metal triangles on hinges which the laces pass through. Unfortunately, they are so big compared to the laces that they don't hold the laces in place. It is very hard to tie the shoes tight. The laces are also very short, so there is barely enough lace to make a secure knot.UPDATE: After a few hikes, the hard corner of the tongue has started digging into my foot, making the shoes pretty unwearable.

These are comfortable and have good support
I love these boots. I cannot get out to shop, so I bought these in both a 7.5 and an 8. After trying both on and walking around the house, I returned the former, deciding they were a little too tight with heavy socks. The 8 initially felt a little loose in the heal because it does not come in different widths and my heals are very narrow, but when I tied them up, they did not slip even a little. They were immediately comfortable, and when I tried them out around the neighborhood, they gave such good support that my chronic back pain was diminished. I took them on a ten day adventure trip to Alaska, where I wore them every day, just about all day. They showed no evidence of wear and were continually comfortable. I had no pain in my feet at the end of long days. I will continue to wear them around town just because of the added support in comparison with general walking shoew.

Bring back the women's Altitude V!
This boot, the women’s Altitude VI, is the replacement for the Hi-Tec women’s Altitude V that I have worn in comfort for years. The V is no longer available in my size. The VI footbed fits well and is comfortable. But, unlike the Altitude V, the tongue is not leather and does not adequately protect the top of my feet from the metal grommets which hold the laces. The metal digs into the bone behind my big toe. Very sad for me. The Altitude V changed my life. I can hike anywhere and everywhere in comfort with it. I couldn’t walk around the block in this new version. Please bring back the women’s Altitude V!I should also say that every foot is different. Others may have no problem with the grommets hitting top-of-foot bones. If that were not the case, I would recommend this boot highly.

Hiking boots and/or everyday boots
I bought these boots last winter and haven't had a chance to hike until recently. Wore them once for hiking (which is something I don't do often, ha), and have been wearing them every day since. They fit like they were made for my feet, and I notice my whole posture is improved from having such a strong/sturdy foundation to stand on. Unexpectedly, I feel safer (?) walking around in them for this same reason. I wish all my shoes felt like this! Instead of stepping, I sort of glide about in them. They're perfect autumn/winter boots: stylish and so comfortable. I will be wearing them all the time for the next many months at least, hiking or not. I highly recommend them.

A great product!
This is the second pair of this particular style of Hi-Tec boots I have purchased. The first pair was the first winter I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska and they proved to be the best hiking boots I had ever had. I wore them until literally the soles were coming off. I'm breaking this pair in as the leather is very stiff when new however, with a bit of wear they will soften and mold to my feet and I am sure be as comfy as the first pair I owned. I highly recommend Hi-Tec boots!

SOLID BOOT for hiking, camping
Bought these to replace my old Hi-tec boots that I gave to my daughter. They were in use 10 years and are no worse for wear. These dont crunch the top of my foot like other models. They are pretty solid. Good lug soles. Love they are waterproof. Wore today for the first time. No need to break them in.... Got them pretty muddy but this style is easy to clean off. I cant imagine cleaning the hiking boots made from other fabrucs and textiles....

GREAT HIKING/ WORK BOOTS
I bought these boots for my job at an animal shelter. I do A LOT of walking in a day. These boots have been fantastic! I've been wearing them for almost 6 months and they have held up phenomenally! They're a little stained but that's to be expected. They fit well, they keep my feet dry, and they're comfortable. The only complaint I have is with the type of laces that the shoe has, they come undone pretty easily so you might find yourself re-tying a few times a day. All in all DEFINITELY recommend!

Very comfortable!
These boots fit perfectly fine. I ordered two pair. One for sister who has wide feet and one pair for me with thin feet. Both in size 6. Soft cushion insoles. Very comfortable. I usually wear a size 6. So order your true size.
