Best $40 I've spent in a long time
I have a late 2009 white unibody Macbook6,1 that was running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and had 2GB (2x1GB) ram. Today I upgraded to 8GB with this 2x4GB set (~$40) and upgraded my software to El Capitan ($0), and I feel like I have a brand new laptop. For $40. I am pretty happy right now.I can stream video again. My day-to-day interactions aren't laggy anymore. I've updated all of my software (much of which wouldn't update anymore on the old OS).I'm not sure how much of the speedup was from the RAM and how much was from the OS upgrade -- I wanted to do both, and figured I'd upgrade the RAM first because it would make the OS update faster. But Activity Monitor is telling me that I'm currently using 3GB RAM as "Memory Used" and 3.86 as "Cached Files" so I'd say the extra RAM is definitely a contributing factor!I am not at all a hardware person, and the install process was super easy. Only tool needed was a Phillips head screwdriver to take the back cover off. The RAM was held in by these little spring-loaded side things. I pulled them out, and the old RAM popped right up and let me pull it out. Had to do that once for each of the old modules. (They were on top of each other.) Then I slid the new RAM in, one at a time, pressing down to seat it. The spring-loaded goobers that hold it in place were shaped such that they allowed me to snap it in once it was in position. Once it was in, I popped the back cover back on, screwed it in, flipped the laptop over, turned it on, and it was happily chugging away with 8GB RAM. No muss, no fuss.BTW the real instructions are at [...] ; they're worded a lot better than mine, and they have pictures. But they will tell you that you can't put more than 2GB RAM in each slot, and they are wrong. 4GB per slot is working great. Maybe it voids the warranty but this laptop was years past its warranty so that doesn't matter at all.

Working well so far!
I installed the RAM 5 minutes before writing this post. So far, everything is working perfectly and I can tell there is a noticeable difference in performance from the 4GB of RAM I had. I was hesitant at first about this purchase given some of the reviews, and I will update if I notice any changes over the next few months. Two items of note, make sure you have the correct screwdriver to take off your back case. If you don't, you can order one on Amazon for a few dollars. Secondly, follow the instructions that can be found online on how to update the RAM and be sure you remove any static in your body by touching something metal inside before touching the computer's components. Again, so far so good.

Cheapest way to speed up old Macs
Still using a 2010 Mac mini with original 2 GB RAM. Slow as pond water with bloated new Mac OS's. Swapped out those 2 1GB's for 2 4 GB's. Wouldn't boot at first, had to re-set the boards a bit more carefully. Now it boots faster, and can handle multiple apps without bogging down so badly. Still kinda slow, but better than before - it's a 10-yo machine running the latest OS. The low price made it painless!

Works Great in Macbook
You get two-4gb pieces (which you need if you have a laptop because you want the same RAM in each slot, it won't function if only one slot is filled). Came quickly, undamaged, and I've had no problems with their products in my Mac. Upgrading your RAM is a great way to upgrade your performance speeds in your computer to handle additional system updates, harder software, and makes it feel like a whole new computer without a large expense. You'll want to verify the model of RAM you need for your specific modle (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT3011), make sure it's enough (I upgraded from two-1gb to two-2gb and realized it wasn't enough and upgraded to two-4gb. You can find this out by monitoring your usage in your Activity Monitor under Memory. You should have a decent amount 'free' to run at top speeds.

6 months later & still working! (Late ‘09 27” 3 GHz)
Very easy to install: visit Apple for instructions, but you can do it yourself in about 2 minutes.Tools: air duster to blow ports, small screw driver to open port on desktop. My computer: old as dirt: Apple iMac 27” from late-2009. Stock RAM was 4 gb; my computer allows up to 12 Gb. Runs like a champ.I didn’t get any ‘death buzzers’ or anything.Came in anti-static packaging within a plastic clamshell case.

Worked well upgrading my MacBook 1342
Worked upgrading my MacBook 1342. Also added a SSD and now it is a screamer. Why bother with new when you can do this. However Apple is continuing to restrict the new OS running on the older Macs. I really do not care,as I use it for business and Internet so the loss is minimal. I use third party software for many apps.

While I was getting quite frustrated by the speed of my mac mini, I found a video on YouTube about upgrading the RAM. I looked up the data on my mini (mid 2010), ordered the maximum amount of memory that it would handle (8G), waited a week for delivery and, within 5 minutes of having unplugged the unit (removing the back, removing/inserting the two memory modules, reinstalling the back) I had 8G of RAM instead of 2G. The mini booted right up, no muss no fuss, and speed was back to what it was when the unit was new. This is a DIY no brainer.

Good ram to add life to your aged machine
I have an old IMAC 2009 , it was working fine until Apple OS updates made the machine way too slow and almost useless. So I had to install new updates and got these extra rams to help the machine work smooth enough. First installed these two rams, my machine was dead, no life then I swapped each ram, basically switched their slots to one another. Then it worked not sure why they are supposed to be identical. Since then I did not have any problems , at least a big ones. My machine shuts down here and there suddenly and restarts fine, I had never had these issues before the ram updates, though I can't really tell if it is caused due to rams have some compatibility issues or new OS gets too heavy for the system. If I was able to keep using my old OS , El Capitan , these rams would have made a difference but with Sierra and new OS updates , they barely keeping my machine useful but you might need them due to forced OS updates. I notice before updates pushed my apple my machine slows down significantly. Then works fine. I would recommend these rams to add a few more years to your aged machine and also add a solid state HD, then it should definitely make a difference.

Much improved performance
My iMac (from 2010, basic model) ran quite slowly when a few memory-hungry apps were in use. I considered buying a new iMac but decided to increase the memory to see how much performance would improve. I installed four new memory modules of 4 GB each. The iMac now runs much faster, with hardly any memory issues (mostly just in MS Word, can be solved by rebooting). It originally came with 4 GB in total so 12 GB more is a big increase and well worth it. Installation was easy once you figure out how much pressure is needed to get the module to click into place. I now expect my iMac to last a few more years - the only problems are operating system upgrades which render my printer and scanner obsolete...

Good for the price
The packaging looked like it was either opened by someone or it wasn't packaged properly. I guess that's what I get for the price. I have always patronized Crucial products and their packaging is excellent.Overall, this worked immediately once I inserted it into my MBP mid-2010 so I guess I'm good 👍.
