The is nothing like the winged weeder!
I like this one because of the extendable handle. I can use it on my raised beds and then extend the handle to work in the regular garden. If you have never owned a winged weeder you have no idea how fast you can weed with a hand tool. It works on any size weed and you can use it under mulch and rocks and does not disturb the the mulch.I showed my wife how to use in her flower beds to get rid of grass and crab grass that grows in the mulch. Now I have a hard time getting it away from her to do my own weeding.

Great for removing weeds
This tool is great in removing those new weeds and grass that start to pop up during spring in the flower beds. You run the Winged Weeder along the surface and it does the rest. The head is a little smaller, but it allows you to maneuver it around the flowers and plants. It does a good job!

zero stars
huge and total disappointment. handle is plastic wrapped hollow tubing. with a Ph.D. I was unable to expand this handle to it's full length. NO instructions, anything but intuitively obvious. one can turn the two plastic wrapped tubes until blue in the face, then hand it to a my wife, a full professor, who is equally stymied. so we go to the "corporate" website where we see an Amish looking guy demonstrating with products with riveted oak or other hardwood handles (quality construction that contrasts with the plastic wrapped tubing we just received) - and surprise, the website has NO information on expanding this cheap handle - that I could discover. finally, we call the corporate offices - only to hear: "Hi this is Curt Fisher, I'm sorry I can't take your call at this time" - - ugh! what corporation? In summary, we could not be more frustrated and disappointed. Total waste of time, energy and money. Stay away from this. Zero stars - or less - if only the ratings made such available. Seriously, this did nothing but annoy.update: Just received a call-back from Mr. Fischer. "his handle manufacturer (not his fault) jammed a plastic object too tightly into the hollow handle (plastic wrapped) and the handle does not expand - yada, yada, yada." Plain english - it's broken, he knew it was broken, and he sold it to us anyway. Amazon handled the return promptly, and without question. Customer service could not have been better or nicer. Gracias. Meanwhile - - I'd stay away from any winged weeders with yellow plastic handles. Pure garbage.

but disappointed with quality material
It does the job ok, but disappointed with quality material, unfortunately is the only winged weeder that ships to Mexico. Handle wont stay up so you still have to bend down , a bit messy with wet soil, I will have to try it with dry soil. Handles ok with a few small weeds but I'm afraid it will break soon, just feels very flimsy.

Good for close to plants but not as easy as he makes it look
The inventor of the weeder makes it look very easy. It's not that easy, but it is a good tool. The main benefit is to dislodge weeds from under mulch and close to the plants. It's not the best tool for big weeding jobs. I have most weeding tools available and the old fashion hoe is still the best tool.I've come to the conclusion that the answer is not in getting better weeding tools, the answer is to stop tilling and to just mulch a lot! Check out the book by Lee Reich, Weedless Gardening.

Winged Weeder is a great tool
The angle grabs the larger weeds and it also slices just under the soil for thesmaller weeds. I also use it to pluck peaches from high branches I can't reach.. also, the angle makes it work for "grabbing" a branch and gently shaking itto thin peaches from the higher branches in no time.I love this tool.. it is small and can get into tight spots for weeding and turned on its side, it works great for edging as well.. love the telescoping handle, too.

Little hoe
I love this little tool! I can use it sitting or standing. The only thing I would have liked was the blade edge to be sharp. Otherwise it's well made and very handy!

Love this tool!!!
I really love this tool!!! I had one for years and wore it completely out and was afraid that I would not be able to find another, With this tool I can literally "nip it in the bud", when it comes to weeding. I can better stay on top of weeds as they poke their little leaves our of the ground, I can easily weed my garden in 20 minutes or so. This thing saves my back and I like the push-pull cutting. However most of the weeds are really uprooted because they are so small when I weed. It also works well on a little larger weeds and grasses too.
