scratchy, but wonderful
Writing with the old discontinued Muji was a dream, and this is no replacement; but the line and flow come quick and slow with the same line. Ohto has made some fine pens since 1919; this is one of them, and I would recommend it for schematics, notes, and editing.

Already bought a second.
Suuuuuper stoked on this. As previous reviewers noted, it can feel a little sharp as you write because of the needle tip. I agree, and suggest lightening the pressure. I genuinely appreciate how tiny I can write with it.

update to: "Ink flow not so good."
New review: The ink flow got better after several days. the slim size fits inside wire bound checkbook binding.I found there is not much difference in ball sizes when it comes to writing small. 0.33, 0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 all were very close to each other (see picture).Old review: Loved the fine point, thin lines, and slim body. But the ink doesn't flow well. Bummer. I have no idea what sheerness means as related to ink pens so I couldn't rate it on that.

Five Stars
The best pens ever. Very thin, very precise, fun to write with, and sleek looking.

Go with Uni-ball ultra micro instead
Very scratchy writing feedback. tendency to skip. can tear thru paper with too much pressure. Does have fine line. The Uni-ball Signo thru Jetpens.com gives much more writing satisfaction. Another negative is seller does not accept returns.

Not great
The ink is choppy and it does not write smooth.

Good IF you have parts. BAD as-is.
It is difficult to give this pen a star rating because there were a few really big negatives that should never be, but with the tiniest amount of effort it becomes great. So do I give it a review for how it can be or should I give it a review on how it arrived? So when the pen arrived it DID NOT HAVE A SPRING! That is seriously messed up! I bought a clicky pen that didn't click. I think this was a mistake, not standard, but it is uncalled for. Had the item been more expensive, it would have been immediately returned. But the pen was cheap and I have been hunting for the perfect pen for a while, so I had plenty of extra parts around the house. I took a spring from a dead Zebra-301 refill and it fit perfectly (not the refill itself though). It now gives a very strong click with no rattle and little chance of accidental deployment/retraction. I'm actually quite pleased with it.The body itself is a thin, lightweight metal. It is sturdy enough, though nowhere near a F-701 pen (not supposed to be though). Styling is similar to Cross pens though it is a bit thinner. I bought a Cross Click pen at the same time and I actually think that the build quality on the OHTO is nearly as good for half the price. The threads seem to fit tightly and I doubt they'll rattle loose while in a pocket. The plating/finish isn't as nice as the Cross, but it is close. OHTO is doing great in the build quality department. It IS a NEEDLEpoint pen. It doesn't require a lot of pressure to make a razor-thin line. If you treat it like an old ball pen trying to mark through carbon paper, you'll have a bad time. This pen requires a light touch. The pen wrote OK, but just OK. It was a little rough. The line was incredibly thin (as I like) but was a little faint for black. So I swapped in a 0.3mm Pilot LHSRF-8C Gel Pen Refill (which is IDENTICAL in size) and it writes perfectly now. There are also ball refills that will fit this pen.FYI - the Pilot LHSRF-8C refill is like a tiny version of the energel pens and writes almost exactly the same.So I haven't found the perfect pen yet, but if you want a thin, classy-looking, metal, easily pocketed pen capable of using ultrafine refills, this works well with some effort. I bought two more.

It may be the last
I bought it because 0.3mm are no longer being made. Yoink.
