Securifi DIY Security System Zigbee Water Leak/Flood Sensor/Detector (1st Gen) - Monitor and detect Water leaks; Get Instant Alert Notifications

I have been having problems with water in my basement because of several sump pumps failing. I only go into the basement on the weekends to do laundry and by then it's always a mess. I decided to purchase these sensors to place next to each pump. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the sensors worked. The plug part is very sensitive to even a small amount of water. I took a half dry wash cloth and touched it to the ends of the sensor and it set it off. Pairing them with my Almond router was so easy and it just took seconds and then I could see everything from the app on my phone. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of five was that the coin batteries that come with it were almost dead on all 3 sensors. They take CR2032 batteries and I had to purchase more right away. The other reason for the rating is that there is an option for it to notify you when it detects water and it takes a good 15-30 minutes to get the notification. I thought it wasn't working at first then the notifications came later. I'm still happy to be notified at some point rather than wait days to find out I have a problem.

I have had this for approximately 6 months now and thankfully it has never tripped. I have gone to the basement where it is set up and tested it using a wet washcloth multiple times just to make sure it is still functioning properly and have had positive results every time. The cord is adequate in length to place the battery pack in a convenient place for easy replacement (I have not yet needed to replace the batteries) and yet still place the sensor in an appropriate place. I will likely buy another to place behind my washing machine which is on the first level of my house rather than in the basement.

Picked up on first day available. So far setup was a breeze, installed in location after ample testing. Working well. Comes with a very long, ~10 feet, cable for the probes which makes installation any where possible. Will be picking up a few more for near my washing machine around furnace / water maker and a few pipes in colder areas. Triggers alerts quickly through the almond app and updates status within or under a few seconds which is available to check online as well as on your apps and at the almond+ and almond 2015 lcd screens. Way cheaper than most flood sensors available. Comes with 3m adhesive and screw mounting choices.

I use my Almond as a wi-fi range extender, and added the flood sensor since I have had water problems in my basement. It works. A message pops up on my phone to warn me of water in the basement.The cable is longer than the picture indicates, which is good.PS - they have solved the dead battery problem referred to in other reviews by NOT including batteries (despite the instructions which say they are included). Plan to have to buy batteries.

Seems great for the price. Paired with the Almond+ router and they all seem to work well during my testing. Hopefully they never have to work though. Currently as of 2015-05-08 the IOS app still doesn't have notifications so the only way to see status is opening the app up but there are notification in android and coming soon to IOS. Bought 4 and might buy a couple more.

The price was right, but this is a bare-bones unit compared to Samsung and Fibaro sensors that I also own. The long wire is also a pain if it isn't needed which was the case for may application.

Installed, setup, and associated with my Almond+ with no issue. Ran several tests to confirm it recognize moisture and no moisture and it did a great job in the tests. Happy with it and ordered a second. This device is mounted in the basement, my router is on the main level and communication appears immediate.Update 10/21/2015. Since I bought 2 of these units in April 2015 both have had low battery warnings. The first was after only 3 months in July 2015 and the second after only 6 months in Oct 2015. Also, after replacing the batteries the low battery warning now doesn't clear. Reducing my rating as 3-6 month battery life is not acceptable on a 2-3 year battery life claim.

Battery died right away. Would not recommend.
